section 5 of the Indian Councils Act, 1892, to the passing of this Act ; It is hereby enacted as follows : CHAPTER 1 Preliminary 1) This Act may be called the Bengal Excise Act, 1909; (2) It extends to the whole of 22. Words subs. for the words "for the retail sale of any intoxicant:" by W.B. Act 34 of 1965. [West Bengal] ; and (3) It shall come into force on such date as the 33. Word subs. for the words "excisable article" by the Government of India (Adaptation of Indian Laws) Order, 1937. [State Government] may, by notification, direct.
