Section Text
(1) It shall be the duty of everyperson to give on demand to a Superintendent of Police, or the police officernot below the rank of Inspector, empowered by an Inspector-General orCommissioner of Police in this behalf, or to any member of 1 [theArmed Forces of the Union] engaged on guard, sentry, patrol or other similarduty, any information in his power relating to an offence or suspected offence,under section 3 or under section 3 read with section 9 and, if so required, andupon tender of his reasonable expenses, to attend at such reasonable time andplace as may be specified for the purpose of furnishing such information.
(2) If any person failsto give any such information or to attend as aforesaid, he shall be punishablewith imprisonment which may extend to 2 [three years] or with fine,or with both.
