Section Text

1) The Central Government shall, notification in the Official Gazette, specify any Government company as the Central Transmission Utility.

(2) The functions of the Central Transmission Utility shall be to-

(a) undertake transmission of energy through inter-State transmission system (b) discharge all functions of planning and coordination relating to inter-State transmission system with-

(i) State Transmission Utilities (ii) Central Government (iii) State Governments;

(iv) Generating companies (v) Regional Electricity Boards;

(vi) Authority;

(vii) licensees;

(viii) transmission licensees;

(ix) any other person notified by the Central Government in this behalf.

(3) The Central Transmission Utility shall exercise supervision and control over the inter-State transmission system.
