Section Text

1) The Central Government may. by notification in the Official Gazette, establish a Central Seed Laboratory or declare" any seed laboratory as the Central Seed Laboratory to carry out the functions entrusted to the Central Seed Laboratory by or under this Act.

(2) The State Government may by notification in the Official Gazette, establish one or more State Seed Laboratories or declare any seed laboratory as a State Seed Laboratory where analysis of seeds of any notified kind or variety shall be carried out by Seed Analysis under this Act in the prescribed manner. "Clause 4.- The Committee are of the view that instead of regulating the quality of seeds in general, it is enough if the quality of seeds of particular kinds of varieties is regulated. Accordingly the clause has been amended to empower the Central Government to notify the kinds or varieties of seeds instead of seeds as proposed in the Bill and notify different kinds or varieties for different States or for different areas thereof."
