Yeomanry cavairy
Yeomanry cavairy, a denomination given to those troops of horse which were levied among the gentlemen and yeomen of the country, upon the same principle as the Volunteer companies. See the National Defence Act, 1888 (51 & 52 Vict. c. 31); and the Militia and Yeomanry Act, 1901 (1 Edw. 7), s. 14.
