Courts (Emergency Powers) Acts (English) empowered the Courts (inter alia) to defer execution,the levying of distress, realization of securities, etc., during the war. The policy of protecting certain classes of tenants and mortgagors was continued and extended by the Increase of Rent and Mortgage Interest (War Restrictions) Act, 1915, since replaced by various Acts which have been superseded by the Rent and Mortgage Interest (Restrictions) Acts, 1920 to 1935.
