Explanation:- For the purposes of this section, if a promoter is not a company within the meaning of the Indian (Now see the Companies Act, 1956 ( I of 1956)) Companies Act, 1913 (VII of 1913), or a local authority, such promoter shall be deemed to be a company and the provisions of Part VII of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (1 of 1894), shall mutatis mutandis apply to the acquisition of immoveable property on his behalf. 16. Temporary entry upon land for repairing or preventing accident;- ( 1) Subject to the rules, a promoter may, at any time, for the purpose of examining, repairing or altering an aerial ropeway or of preventing any accident, enter upon any immovable property adjoining such ropeway for public traffic, and may do all such works as may be necessary for such purpose. (2) In the exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1), the promoter shall cause as little damage as possible, and compensation shall be paid by him for any damage so caused; and in case of dispute as to the amount of such compensation, or the person to whom it shall be paid, the matter shall be referred to the decision of the Collector. 17. .....Act in question has been amended through the Land Acquisition (Punjab Amendment) Ordinance, 1956 (Punjab Ordinance No.4 of 1956). The Bill is designed to replace the said Ordinance. (Punjab Government Gazette Extraordinary, 1956, page 1090). 1. Short title. " This Act may be called The Land Acquisition (Punjab Second Amendment) Act, 1956. 2. Amendment of section 17 of Act 1 of 1894 as amended by Punjab Act II of 1954. " In sub-section (2) of section 17 of Land Acquisition Act, 1894, as amended by Punjab Act II of 1954, in its application to the State of Punjab, the following clause shall be inserted after the words "any public road" occurring in clause (b) :- "(c) whenever land is acquired for a public purpose which in the opinion of the appropriate Government is of urgent importance." 3.
