THE KANNUR UNIVERSITY ACT, 1996 [1] THE KANNUR UNIVERSITY ACT, 1996 [1] (ACT 22 OF 1996) An Act to establish and incorporate University of Kannur by the name Kannur University . Preamble .-WHEREAS it is considered necessary to establish a teaching, residential and affiliating University in the State of Kerala to provide for the development of higher education in the Kasaragod and Kannur revenue districts and the Mananthavady taluk of the Wayanad district in the State which are lagging in the field of higher education; BE it enacted in the Forty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:- CHAPTER I PRELIMINARY 1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Kannur University Act, 1996. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 9 th day of November 1995. 2.
