Constitution of India Article 347

Title: Special Provision Relating to Language Spoken by a Section of the Population of a State

State: Central

Year: 1950

On a demand being made in that behalf the President may, if he is satisfied that a substantial proportion of the population of a State desire the use of any language spoken by them to be recognised throughout that State or any part thereof for such purpose as he may specify.

The Indian Penal Code 1860 Complete Act

.....1908, `India', means the territory of India excluding the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Under s. 2(e) of the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Act, 1969, `India' means for the purposes of this Act the territories to which this Act extends (i.e., whole of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir). According to s. 2(27) of Customs Act, 1962, `India' includes the territorial waters of India. SECTION 19: "JUDGE" The word "judge" denotes not only every person who is officially designated as a Judge, but also every person, who is empowered by law to give, in any legal proceeding, civil or criminal, a definitive judgement or a judgement which, if not appealed against, would be definitive, or a judgement which, if confirmed by some other authority, would be definitive, or who is one of a body of persons, which body of persons is empowered by law to give such a judgement. Illustrations (a) A Collector exercising jurisdiction in a suit under Act 10 of 1859, is a Judge. (b) A Magistrate exercising jurisdiction in respect of a charge on which he has power to sentence to fine or imprisonment, with or without appeal, is a Judge. .....of determining questions as to what person or what property is denoted by any words used in a Will, a Court shall inquire into every material fact relating to the persons who claim to be interested under such Will, the property which is claimed as the subject of disposition, the circumstances of the testator and of his family, and into every fact a knowledge of which may conduct to the right application of the words which the testator has used. Illustrations (i) A, by his Will, bequeaths 1,000 rupees to his eldest son or to his youngest grand-child, or to his cousin, Mary; a Court may make inquiry in order to ascertain to what person the description in the Will applies. In a Will (a) the word "children" applies only to lineal descendants in the first degree of the person whose "children" are spoken of; (b) the word "grand-children" applies only to lineal descendants in the second degree of the person whose ''grand-children" are spoken of; (c) the words "nephews" and "nieces" apply only to children of brothers or sisters; (d) the words "cousins", or "first cousins", or "cousins-german", apply only to children of brothers or of sisters of the father or mother of the person whose "cousins", or "first cousins", or "cousins-german", are spoken of; (e) the words "first cousins once removed" apply only to children of cousins-german, or to cousins-german of a parent of the person whose "first cousins once removed" are spoken of; (f) the words "second cousins" apply only to grand-children of brothers or of sisters of the grandfather or grandmother of the person whose "second cousins" are spoken of; (g) the words "issue" and "descendants" apply to all lineal descendants whatever of the person whose "issue" or "descendants" are spoken of; (h) words expressive of collateral relationship apply alike to relatives of full and of half blood; and

Karnataka Sales Tax Act, 1957 Schedule II

The Tripura Sales Tax, 1976 Complete Act

.....specified in column 3 of the Schedule : Provided that in respect of any such transfer only so much value of the goods involved in the works-contract which has actually been paid to the dealer during the period, shall be taken into account for determining the turnover for that period. Explanation: -For the purpose of this section "property in goods" shall mean the aggregate of the goods for which amounts have been received or receivable by a dealer during such period as valuable consideration, whether or not such amount has been separately shown in the works contract.
