In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, (a) "Advocate" means an Advocate entered in any roll under the provisions of the Advocates Act, 1961 (No. 25 of 1961); (b) "Court" means the High Court of Sikkim, and a Court of Civil or Criminal jurisdiction in Sikkim and includes any tribunal, authority or person in Sikkim legally authorised to take evidence; (c) "proceeding" includes suit, appeal, revision, review. petition, application before any Court. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Fifty-third Year of the Republic of India as follows:- Short title and commencement . 1. (1) This Act may be called the Code of Civil Procedure (Amendment) Act, 2002. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint, and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act and for different States or for different parts thereof. Amendment of section 39, 2. THE SIKKIM POLICE ACT, 2008 THE SIKKIM POLICE ACT , 2008 (Act No . 15 of 2008) AN ACT To make provision for the law relating to the establishment and management of the Police organization and its functions. Be it enacted by the Legislature of Sikkim in the Fifty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows: CHAPTER I Preliminary: Definitions and Interpretations Short title, extent and commencement 1. (1) This Act may be called the Sikkim Police Act, 2008. (2) It extends to the whole of Sikkim.
