Tezpur University Act, 1993 Schedule II

Title: Second Schedule

.....Committee shall consist of the following members, namely :-- (i) the Vice-Chairman of the University Grants Commission appointed under sub-section (1) of section 5 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 (3 of 1956), ex officio Chairman; (ii) the Vice-Chancellor; (iii) the Pro-Vice-Chancellor; (iv) all Deans of Schools; (v) three teachers of the University to be nominated by the Board of Management; (vi) one representative each of the-- (a) North-Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology; (b) North-Eastern Council set up under section 3 of the North-Eastern Council Act, 1971 (84 of 1971); (c) Ministry of Human, Resource Development, Government of India; and (d) the State Government of Assam; (vii) three distinguished academic council to be nominated by the Visitor; (viii) three persons of eminence in public lift to be nominated by the Visitor; (ix) the Registrar who shall be ex officio Secretary of the Committee. (2) All members, of the Committee, other than ex officio members shall hold office for a term of five years. National Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993 Section 16

Title: Chairperson, Members and Employees of the Commission to Be Public Servants

State: Central

Year: 1993

The Chairperson, Members and employees of the Commission shall be deemed to be public servants within the meaning of section 21 of the Indian penal Code. (45 of 1860.) Illustration A Municipal Commissioner is a public servant. Explanation 1.--Persons falling under any of the above descriptions are public servants, whether appointed by the Government or not. Explanation 2.--Wherever the words "public servant" occur, they shall be understood of every person who is in actual possession of the situation of a public servant, whatever legal effect there may be in his right to hold that situation. Explanation 3.--The word "election" denotes an election for the purpose of slecting members of any legislative, municipal or other public authority, of whatever character, the method of selection to which is by, or under, any law prescribed as by election.

Title: Filling of Casual Vacancies

All casual vacancies among the members (other than ex officio members) of any authority or other body of the University shall be filled, as soon as may be, by the person or body who appointed, elected or co-opted the member whose place has become vacant and person appointed, elected or co-opted to a casual vacancy shall be a member of such authority or body for the residue of the term for which the person whose place he fills would have been a member.

National Commission for Backward Classes Act, 1993 Chapter V

Title: Miscellaneous

.....effect only in such modified form or be of no effect, as the case may be; so, however, that any such modification or annulment shall be without prejudice to the validity of anything previously done under that rule. Section 18 - Power to remove difficulties (1) If any difficulty arises in giving effect to the provisions of this Act, the Central Government may, by order published in the Official Gazette, make provisions, not inconsistent with the provisions of this Act as appear to it to be necessary or expedient, for removing the difficulty: Provided that no such order shall be made after the expiry of a period of two years from the date of commencement of this Act. (2) Every order made under this section shall, as soon as may be after it is made, be laid before each House of Parliament. Section 19 - Repeal and Saving (1) The National Commission for Backward Classes Ordinance, 1993 (Ord. 23 of 1993) is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the said Ordinance, shall be deemed to have been done or taken under the corresponding provisions of this Act.
