Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 Section 353

Title: Method of Giving Helm Orders

No person on any Indian ship shall, when the ship is going ahead, give a helm or steering order containing the word "standard" or "right" or any equivalent of "starboard" or "right" unless he intends that the head of the ship shall move to the "right" or give a helm or steering order containing the word "port" or "left" or any equivalent of 'port' or 'left' unless he intends that the head of the ship shall move to the left.

Title: Assault or Criminal Force to Deter Public Servant Form Discharge of His Duty

Whoever assaults or uses criminal force to any person being a public servant in the execution of his duty as such public servant, or with intent to prevent or deter that person from discharging his duty as such public servant, or in consequence of anything done or attempted to be done by such person in the lawful discharge of his duty as such public servant, shall be unished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to two years, or with fine, or with both.

Title: Power to Extend Provisions of This Act to a Transitional Area

Title: Liquidator to Make Returns, Etc.

(1) If any Company Liquidator who has made any default in filing, delivering or making any return, account or other document, or in giving any notice which he is by law required to file, deliver, make or give, fails to make good the default within fourteen days after the service on him of a notice requiring him to do so, the Tribunal may, on an application made to it by any contributory or creditor of the company or by the Registrar, make an order directing the Company Liquidator to make good the default within such time as may be specified in the order. (2) Any order under sub-section (1) may provide that all costs of, and incidental to, the application shall be borne by the Company Liquidator. (3) Nothing in this section shall prejudice the operation of any enactment imposing penalties on a Company Liquidator in respect of any such default as aforesaid.

(1) Every notice, bill, summons order, requisition ox other document required or authorised by this Act or any rule, regulation or bye-law made thereunder to be served or issued by or on behalf of the Council, or by the Chairperson or any officer, of any person shall, save as otherwise provided in this Act or such rule, regulation or bye-law, be deemed to be duly served.-- (a) where the person to be served is a company, if the document is addressed to the secretary of the company at its registered office or at its principal office or place of the business and is either-- (i) sent by registered post, or (ii) delivered at the registered office or at the principal office or place of business of the company; (b) where the person to be served is a partnership firm, if the document is addressed to the partnership firm at its principal place of business, identifying it by the name or style under which its business is carried on, and is either-- (i) sent by registered post, or (ii) delivered at the said place of business; (c) where the person to be served is a public body, or a corporation, society or other body, if the document is addressed to the secretary, treasurer or.....

Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976 Section 353

Title: Purposes for Which Places Within the Limits of the City or Within Five Kilometers Thereof May Not Be Used Without Licence and Payment of Proportionate Tax to Local Body Concerned in the Latter Case

(3) The owner or occupier of every place for the use of which for any purpose a licence is required under sub-section (1) or sub-section (2) shall apply to the Commissioner for such licence not less than thirty days before the place is used for such purpose or within thirty days of the publication of the notification under sub-section (2) in the Official Gazette, as the case may be. (4) Every application for a licence for the use of any place for the purpose of storing or selling explosives, timber or other combustible material shall contain a statement showing the boundaries and measurements of such place. (5) The Commissioner may grant such licence subject to such restrictions and conditions as may be specified by him thereon or he may refuse to grant such licence if it is likely to cause nuisance in the neighbourhood. (6) Every such licence shall expire at the end of the year for which it is granted, or at such earlier date as the Commissioner may, for special reasons, specify in the licence. Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 Section 353

.....accused than one, and one or more of them do not attend the Court on the date on which the judgment is to be pronounced, the presiding officer may, in order to avoid undue delay in the disposal of the case, pronounce the judgment notwithstanding their absence. (7) No judgment delivered by any Criminal Court shall be deemed to be invalid by reason only of the absence of any party or his pleader on the day or from the place notified for the delivery thereof, or of any omission to serve, or defect in serving, on the parties or their pleaders, or any of them, the notice of such day and place. (8) Nothing in this section shall be construed to limit in any way the extent of the provisions of section 465.

Title: Power to Delegate Functions to the President, Etc.

(1)The Board may, by a resolution passed in this behalf, delegate to the President, Vice-President, Chief Executive Officer or Health Officer, subject to such conditions, if any, as may be specified in the resolution, all or any of its functions under clause (b) of subsection (5) of section 290, section 168, section 170, section 175, section 167, section 263 and section 264.
