High Commissioner 1[302. High Commissioner for India (1) There shall be a High Commissioner for India in the United Kingdom who shall be appointed, and whose salary and conditions of service shall be prescribed, by the Governor-General, exercising his individual judgment. (2) The High Commissioner shall perform on behalf of the Federation such functions in connection with the business of the Federation, and, in particular, in relation to the making of contracts as the Governor-General may from time to time direct. (3) The High Commissioner may, with the approval of the Governor- General and on such terms as may be agreed, undertake to perform on behalf of a Province or Federated State, or on behalf of Burma, functions similar to those which he performs on behalf of the Federation. ________________________ 1. Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 Section 302

Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964 Section 302

Title: Annual Administration Report

(1) As soon as may be after the first day of April in every year and not later than such date as may be fixed by the Government, a town municipal council shall submit to the Deputy Commissioner and the Commissioner and a city municipal council shall submit to the Commissioner and to Government a report on the administration during the preceding official year in such form and with such details as the Government may direct. (2) The Municipal Commissioner or Chief Officer shall prepare the report and place it before the municipal council for consideration, and forward it to the Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner and Government as specified in sub-section (1) along with the resolution of the municipal council thereon. (3) The report may be published in such manner as the municipal council may direct.

Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 Section 302

Title: Permission to Conduct Prosecution

(1) Any Magistrate inquiring into or trying a case may permit the prosecution to be conducted by any person other than a police officer below the rank of Inspector; but no person, other than the Advocate-General or Government Advocate or a Public Prosecutor or Assistant Public Prosecutor, shall be entitled to do so without such permission: Provided that no police officer shall be permitted to conduct the prosecution if he has taken part in the investigation into the offence with respect to which the accused is being prosecuted. (2) Any person conducting the prosecution may do so personally or by a pleader.

Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976 Section 302

Title: Reference to Standing Committee if Commissioner Delays Grant or Refusal of Approval or Permission

(1) If, within the period laid down in1[sub-section (2) of section 301] the Commissioner has neither given nor refused his approval of a building site, or his permission to execute any work, as the case may be, the standing committee shall be bound, on the written request of the applicant, to determine by written order whether such approval or permission should be given or not. (2) If the standing committee does not, within one month from the receipt of such written request, determine whether such approval or permission should be given or not such approval or permission shall be deemed to have been given and the applicant may proceed to execute the work, but not as to contravene any of the provisions of this Act or any rules or bye-laws made under this Act. __________________________ 1. New Delhi Municipal Council Act 1994 Section 302

Title: Power to Require Closing of Burning and Burial Grounds

(1) Where the Chairperson, after making or causing to be made local inquiry is of opinion that any burning or burial ground has become offensive to, or dangerous to the health of, persons residing in the neighbourhood, he may, with the previous sanction of the Council, by notice in writing, require the owner or person in charge of such ground to close the same from such date as may be specified in the notice. (2) No corpse shall be burnt or buried at the burning or burial ground in respect of which a notice has been issued under this section.
