Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964 Section 209

Title: Troughs and Pipes for Rain Water

State: Karnataka

Year: 1964

The municipal council may, by written notice, require the owner of every building in any street to put up and keep in good condition, proper troughs and pipes for catching and carrying the water from the roof and other parts of such building, and for discharging the same, in such manner as it may think fit, so that it shall not fall upon the persons passing along the street or cause damage to the street.

.....and search, the place or places where such books or papers are kept; and (b) seize such books and papers as he considers necessary after allowing the company to take copies of, or extracts from, such books or papers at its cost. (2) The Registrar or inspector shall return the books and papers seized under subsection (1), as soon as may be, and in any case not later than one hundred and eightieth day after such seizure, to the company from whose custody or power such books or papers were seized: Provided that the books and papers may be called for by the Registrar or inspector for a further period of one hundred and eighty days by an order in writing if they are needed again: Provided further that the Registrar or inspector may, before returning such books and papers as aforesaid, take copies of, or extracts from them or place identification marks on them or any part thereof or deal with the same in such other manner as he considers necessary. (3) The provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (2 of 1974) relating to searches or seizures shall apply, mutatis mutandis, to every search and seizure made under this section.

Cantonments Act, 1924 Section 209

Title: Provision of Washing Places

(1) A1[Board] may provide suitable places for the exercise by washermen of their calling, and may require payment of such fees for the use thereof as it thinks fit. (2) Where the1[Board] has provided such places as aforesaid it may, by public notice, prohibit the washing of clothes by washermen at any other place in the cantonment: Provided that such prohibition shall not be deemed to apply to the washing by a washerman of his own clothes or of the clothes of any other person who is an occupier of the place at which they are washed. (3) Whoever contravenes any prohibition contained in a notice issued under sub-section (2) shall be punishable with fine which may extend to2[one hundred rupees]. ________________________ 1. Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 Section 209

Title: Restriction on Conviction

No person prosecuted for an offence punishable under section 183 or section 184 shall be convicted unless (a) he was warned at the time the offence was committed that the question of prosecuting him would be taken into consideration, or (b) within fourteen days from the commission of the offence, a notice specifying the nature of the offence and the time and place where it is alleged to have been committed was served on or sent by registered post to him or the person registered as the owner of the vehicle at the time of the commission of the offence, or (c) within twenty-eight days of the commission of the offence, a summons for the offence was served on him: Provided that nothing, in this section shall apply where the court is satisfied that (a) the failure to serve the notice or summons referred to in this sub-section was due to the fact that neither the name and address of the accused nor the name and address of the registered owner of the vehicle could with reasonable diligence have been ascertained in time, or (b) such failure was brought about by the conduct of the accused.

New Delhi Municipal Council Act 1994 Section 209

Title: Defining the Regular Line of Streets

.....wall or portion thereof, the Chairperson fails to take steps to acquire the land within the regular line of the street in the accordance with section 212, then that person may, subject to any other provisions of this Act and the bye-laws made thereunder, proceed with the work of construction or reconstruction of such boundary wall or portion thereof. .....calculation is made by the assessee for the purposes of payment of advance tax under sub-section (1) or sub-section (2) or sub-section (5) or sub-section (6) of section 210, he shall first estimate his current income and income-tax thereon shall be calculated at the rates in force in the financial year ; (b) where the calculation is made by the Assessing Officer for the purpose of making an order under sub-section (3) of section 210, the total income of the latest previous year in respect of which the assessee has been assessed by way of regular assessment or the total income returned by the assessee in any return of income furnished by him for any subsequent previous year, whichever is higher, shall be taken and income-tax thereon shall be calculated at the rates in force in the financial year ; (c) where the calculation is made by the Assessing Officer for the purpose of making an amended order under sub-section (4) of section 210, the total income declared in the return furnished by the assessee for the later previous year, or, as the case may be, the total income in respect of which the regular assessment, referred to in that sub-section has been made, shall be taken.....
