Indian Succession Act, 1925 Section 179

Title: No Ademption by Subsequent Provision for Legatee

State: Central

Year: 1925

No bequest shall be wholly or partially adeemed by a subsequent provision made by settlement or otherwise for the legatee. Illustrations (i) A bequeaths 20,000 rupees to his son B. He afterwards gives to B the sum of 20,000 rupees. The legacy is not thereby adeemed. (ii) A bequeaths 40,000 rupees to B, his orphan niece whom he had brought up from her infancy. Afterwards, on the occasion of B's marriage, A settles upon her the sum of 30,000 rupees. The legacy is not thereby diminished.

Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976 Section 179

Title: Objects Not Provided for by This Act

State: Karnataka

Year: 1976

The Government may with the consent of the corporation transfer to the corporation the management of any institution or the execution of any work not provided for by this Act and it shall thereupon be lawful for the corporation to undertake such management or execution: Provided that in every such case the funds required, for such management or execution shall be placed at the disposal of the corporation by the Government.

Title: Power to Remove Difficulties

If any difficulty arises in giving effect to the provisions of this Act in consequence of the transition to the said provisions from the provisions of the Acts in force immediately before the commencement of this Act, the Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, make such provisions as appear to it to be necessary or expedient for removing the difficulty.

Karnataka Land Revenue Act, 1964 Section 179

When a sale held under this Chapter is confirmed, the1[Tahsildar] shall put the person declared to be the purchaser in possession of the property and shall cause his name to be entered in the land records and shall grant him a certificate in the prescribed form to the effect that he has purchased the property specified therein and such certificate shall be deemed to be a valid transfer of such property. ___________________ 1. Karnataka Municipalities Act, 1964 Section 179

Title: The Regular Line of Public Street

.....of the lands affected by such alignment; (b) the municipal council shall consider any written objection or suggestion in regard to such proposal delivered at the office of the municipal council within such time as it may specify in such public or special notice; and (c) the municipal council shall prepare a map of the area comprised within the said line and the street concerned and a statement specifying the lands enclosed therein which shall be open for the inspection of the public. Government of India Act, 1935 [Repealed] Section 179

Title: Legal Proceedings as to Certain Matters

.....the Secretary of State shall be deemed to be substituted in those proceedings for the Secretary of State in Council, and the provisions of sub-section (1) of this section shall apply in relation to sums ordered to be paid, and costs or expenses incurred, by the Secretary of State or the Secretary of State in Council in or in connection with any such proceedings as they apply in relation to sums ordered to be paid in, and costs or expenses incurred in or in connection with the defence of, proceedings brought against the Secretary of Slate under the said sub­section (1). (3) Any contract made in respect of the affairs of the Federation or a Province by or on behalf of the Secretary of State after the commence-ment of Part III of this Act may provide that any proceedings under that contract shall be brought in the United Kingdom by or against the Secretary of State and any such proceedings may be brought accordingly, and any sum ordered to be paid by the Secretary of State by way of debt, damages or costs in any such proceedings, and any costs or expenses incurred by the Secretary of State in or in connection therewith, shall be paid out of the revenues of the Federation.....

Income Tax Act, 1961 Section 179

Title: Liability of Directors of Private Company in Liquidation

State: Central

Year: 1961

(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Companies Act, 1956 (1 of 1956), where any tax due from a private company in respect of any income of any previous year or from any other company in respect of any income of any previous year during which such other company was a private company cannot be recovered, then, every person who was a director of the private company at any time during the relevant previous year shall be jointly and severally liable for the payment of such tax unless he proves that the non-recovery cannot be attributed to any gross neglect, misfeasance or breach of duty on his part in relation to the affairs of the company. (2) Where a private company is converted into a public company and the tax assessed in respect of any income of any previous year during which such company was a private company cannot be recovered, then, nothing contained in sub-section (1) shall apply to any person who was a director of such private company in relation to any tax due in respect of any income of such private company assessable for any assessment year commencing before the 1st day of April, 1962.

Cantonments Act, 2006 Section 179

Title: Medical Supplies Appliances, Etc.

(1) Every hospital or dispensary maintained or aided under section 178 shall be maintained in accordance with any general or special orders of the Central Government for the conduct of hospitals and dispensaries or is accordance with the said orders modified in such manner as the Central Government may think fit. (2) The Board shall cause every such hospital or dispensary to be provided with all requisite drugs, instruments, apparatus, furniture and appliances and with sufficient cots, bedding and clothing for in-patients.

Air Force Act, 1950 Section 179

Title: Reduction of Warrant Officer or Non-commissioned Officer

Year: 1950

When under the provisions of section 79 a warrant officer or a non-commissioned officer is deemed to be reduced to the ranks, such reduction shall, for the purpose of section 177, be treated as a punishment awarded by a sentence of a court-martial.
