Karnataka Police Act, 1963 Section 151

Title: General Duties of Members of the State Reserve Police Force

.....any member or body of such officers is directed to be employed shall be deemed as active duty for the purpose of this Act. Explanation.--The direction of the Government or of the Inspector-General of Police whether a Reserve Police Officer is required or is on active duty shall be final. (3) A Reserve Police Officer employed on active duty under sub-section (1), or when a member or body of Reserve Police Officers are so employed, the officer in charge of such member or body shall be responsible for the efficient performance of that duty and all police officers who but for the employment of one or more reserve police officers or body of reserve police officers would be responsible for the performance of that duty will, to the best of their ability, assist and co-operate with the said reserve police officer or officers in charge of a member or body of reserve police officers. _______________________________ 1. Care to be taken by bailee In all cases of bailment the bailee is bound to take as much care of the goods bailed to him as a man of ordinary prudence would, under similar circumstances, take of his own goods of the same bulk, quality and value as the goods bailed.2 _______________________ 1. The responsibility of the Trustees of the Port of Madras constituted under the Madras Port Trust Act, 1905 (Madras Act 2 of 1905), in regard to goods has been declared to be that of a bailee under these sections, without the qualifying words "in the absence of any special contract" in section 152, see section 40(1) of the Act. 2. As to railway contracts see the Indian Railways Act, 1890 (9 of 1890), section 72. [Ed. The Indian Railways Act, 1890 (9 of 1890) has been repealed by the Railways Act, 1989 (24 of 1989), section 200.] As to the liability of common carriers, see the Carriers Act, 1865 (3 of 1865), section 8.

Title: Arrest to Prevent the Commission of Cognizable Offences

STATE AMENDMENT 1Maharashtra: In section 151 ,- (a) in sub-section ( 2 ), after the words "required or authorised" the words, "under sub­ section ( 3 ) or" shall be inserted; (b) after sub-section ( 2 ), the following sub-section shall be inserted, namely:- "( 3 ) (a) Where a person is arrested under this section and the officer making the arrest, or the officer in charge of the police station before whom the arrested person is produced, has reasonable grounds to believe that the detention of the arrested person for a period longer than twenty-four hours from the time of arrest (excluding the time required to take the arrested person from the place of arrest to the Court of a Judicial Magistrate) is necessary by reason that- (i) The person is likely to continue the design to commit, or is likely to commit, the cognizable offence referred to in sub-section ( 1 ) after hi s release; and (ii) the circumstances of the case are such that his being at large is likely to be prejudicial to the maintenance of public order,. the officer making the arrest, or.....

Companies Act, 1956 Section 151

(1) Every company having more than fifty members shall, unless the register of members is in such a form as in itself to constitute an index, keep an index (which may be in the form of a card index) of the names of the members of the company and shall, within fourteen days, after the date on which any alteration is made in the register of members, make the necessary alteration in the index. (2) The index shall, in respect of each member, contain a sufficient indication to enable the entries relating to that member in the register to be readily found. (3) The index shall, at all times, be kept at the same place as the register of members. (4) If default is made in complying with sub-sections (1), (2) or (3), the company and every officer of the company who is in default, shall be punishable with fine which may extend to1[five hundred rupees]. ____________________ 1. Merchant Shipping Act, 1958 Section 151

Title: Conditions of Service, Etc., to Remain Unchanged During Pendency of Proceedings Before Tribunal

During the pendency of proceedings under section 150 (a) no seamen or class of seamen or union of seamen shall go or remain on strike or otherwise act in a manner prejudicial to the normal operation of the ships in which the seamen are employed or are likely to be employed; and (b) no owner of a ship shall (i) alter to the prejudice of the seamen concerned in the dispute, the conditions of service applicable to them immediately before the commencement of such proceedings; or (ii) discharge or punish any seaman in respect of any matter connected with the dispute.

Title: Transmission of Orders of Courts to Controller

(1) Every order of 1 [the High Court or the Appellate Board] on a petition for revocation, including orders granting certificates of validity of any claim, shall be transmitted by 1 [the High Court or the Appellate Board] to the Controller who shall cause an entry thereof and reference thereto to be made in the register. (2) Where in any suit for infringement of a patent or in any suit under section 106 the validity of any claim or a specification is contested and that claim is found by the court to be valid or not valid, as the case may be, the court shall transmit a copy of its judgment and decree to the Controller who shall on receipt thereof cause an entry in relation to such proceeding to be made in the prescribed manner in a supplemental record. (3) The provisions of sub-sections (1) and (2) shall also apply to the court to which appeals are preferred against decisions of the 2 [Appellate Board or the courts] referred to in those sub-sections. __________________________ 1.
