Title: Penalties Not to Affect Other Liabilities

Title: Power to Order Disuse of House

If a Board is satisfied that any building or part of a building in the cantonment which is intended for or used as a dwelling place is unfit for human habitation, it may cause a notice to be pasted on some conspicuous part of the building prohibiting the owner or occupier thereof from using the building or room for human habitation, or allowing it to be so used, until it has been rendered fit for such use to the satisfaction of the Board.

Indian Succession Act, 1925 Section 147

Title: Retention, in Form, of Specific Bequest to Several Persons in Succession

Where property is specifically bequeathed to two or more persons in succession, it shall be retained in the form in which the testator left it, although it may be of such a nature that its value is continually decreasing. Illustrations (i) A, having lease of a house for a term of years, fifteen of which were unexpired at the time of his death, has bequeathed the lease to B for his life, and after B's death to C. B is to enjoy the property as A left it, although, if B lives for fifteen years, C can take nothing under the bequest. (ii) A, having an annuity during the life of B, bequeaths it to C, for his life, and, after C's death, to D. C is to enjoy the annuity as A left it, although, if B dies before D, D can take nothing under the bequest.

Any Police officer who-- (a) without lawful authority or reasonable cause enters or searches, or causes to be entered or searched, any building, vessel, tent or place; (b) vexatiously and unnecessarily seizes the property of any person; (c) vexatiously and unnecessarily detains, searches or arrests any person; (d) offers any unnecessary personal violence to any person in his custody, or (e) holds out any threat or promise not warranted by law, shall for every such offence, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine which may extend to five hundred rupees, or with both.

Title: Casual Vacancies in the Council of States

.....upon the elected members of the Legislative Assembly or the members of the electoral college concerned2[* **], as the case may be, to elect a person for the purpose of filling the vacancy so caused before such date as may be specified in the notification and provisions of this Act and of the rules and orders made thereunder shall apply, as far as may be, in relation to the election of a member to fill such vacancy. 3[(2) As soon as may be after the date of commencement of the Constitution (Seventh Amendment) Act, 1956, bye-election shall be held to fill the vacancies existing on that date in the seats allotted to the States of Assam, Orissa and Uttar Pradesh and the Union territories of Delhi, Himachal Pradesh4and Manipur4.] ______________________ 1.
