Title: Power of Court to Grant Relief

If any proceedings, civil or criminal, it appears to the court hearing the case that a person is or may be liable in respect of negligence, default, breach of duty or breach of trust but that he has acted honestly and reasonably and that having regard to all the circumstances of the case he ought fairly to be excused for the negligence, default, breach of duty or breach of trust, the court may relieve him either wholly or partly from his liability on such terms as it may think fit.

Title: Voting by Members

(1) Subject to the provisions of sub-sections (2) and (3), every decision of an Assam Rifles Court shall be passed by a majority of votes; and where there is an equality of votes on either the finding or the sentence, the decision shall be in favour of the accused. (2) No sentence of death shall be passed by a General Assam Rifles Court without the concurrence of at least two-thirds of the members of the Court. (3) In matters, other than a challenge or the finding or sentence, the presiding officer shall have a casting vote.

(1) Each high court may by its own rules provide, as it thinks fit, for the exercise, by one or more judges, or by division courts constituted by two or more judges, of the high court, of the original and appellate jurisdiction vested in the court. (2) The chief justice of each high court shall determine what judge in each case is to sit alone, and what judges of the court, whether with or without the chief justice, are to constitute the several division courts.

Title: Repeal and Savings

(1) The Manipur Panchayati Raj Act, 1975 is hereby repealed. (2) Notwithstanding the repeal of the Manipur Panchayati Raj Act, 1973 (hereinafter referred to as the repealed Act) the repeal shall not affect:-- (a) the previous operations of the repealed Act or anything duly done or Buffered thereunder; or (b) any right, privilege, obligation or liability acquired, accrued or incurred under the repealed Act; or (c) any penalty, forfeiture or punishment incurred in respect of any offence committed under the repealed Act; or (d) any investigation, legal proceedings or remedy in respect of such right, privilege, obligation, liability, forfeiture or punishment as aforesaid, and any such investigation, legal proceedings or remedy may be instituted, continued or enforced, and any such penalty, forfeiture or punishment may be imposed as if this Act had not been passed.

Title: Swearing of Interpreter and Shorthand-writer

Title: Display of Notices

(1) In addition to the notices required to be displayed in any factory by or under this Act, there shall be displayed in every factory a notice containing such abstracts of this Act and of the rules made thereunder as may be prescribed and also the name and address of the Inspector and the certifying surgeon. (2) All notices required by or under this Act to be displayed in a factory shall be in English and in a language understood by the majority of the workers in the factory, and shall be displayed at some conspicuous and convenient place at or near the main entrance to the factory, and shall be maintained in a clean and legible condition. (3) The Chief Inspector may, by order in writing served on the manager of any factory, require that there shall be displayed in the factory any other notice or poster relating to the health, safety or welfare of the workers in the factory.

Where a share which lapses is a part of the general residue bequeathed by the Will, that share shall go as undisposed of. Illustration The testator bequeaths me residue of his estate to A, B and C, to be equally divided between them. A dies before the testator. His one-third of the residue goes as undisposed of.
