THE SIKKIM POLICE ACT, 2008 THE SIKKIM POLICE ACT , 2008 (Act No . 15 of 2008) AN ACT To make provision for the law relating to the establishment and management of the Police organization and its functions. Be it enacted by the Legislature of Sikkim in the Fifty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows: CHAPTER I Preliminary: Definitions and Interpretations Short title, extent and commencement 1. (1) This Act may be called the Sikkim Police Act, 2008. (2) It extends to the whole of Sikkim. (3) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may by notification in the Official Gazette appoint. Definitions 2. (1) In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires.- ( a) "Act" means the Sikkim Police Act, 2008 (b) "cattle" means and includes cows, buffalos, elephants, camels, horses, asses, mules, sheep, goats and swine (c) "core functions" means duties related to sovereign functions of the State including arrest, search, seizure, crime investigation, crowd control and allied functions that can only be performed by the police as the agency of the State (d) "Group `C' posts" means the posts so categorized under the.....

.....Board shall be a body corporate by the name aforesaid having perpetual succession and a common seal with power, subject to the provisions of this Act, to contract and shall, by the said name, sue and be sued. (3) The Board shall consist of the following persons, namely:-- (a) Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Science and Technology, ex officio--Chairperson; (b) Member-Secretary, Planning Commission, ex officio--Member; (c) Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Biotechnology, ex officio--Member; (d) Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, ex officio--Member; (e) Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Earth Sciences, ex officio--Member; (f) Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance or his nominee, ex officio--Member; (g) Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Health Research, ex officio--Member; (h) not more than three members to be appointed by the Central Government from amongst persons having experience in scientific research in different disciplines in academic institutions; .....

Title: Oversight Committee of Experts

(1) Subject to the rules made in this behalf, the Board shall constitute an Oversight Committee of Experts consisting of experts, eminent scientists and academics to advise and assist the Board. (2) The Oversight Committee shall consist of the following persons, namely:--(i) a scientist of eminence and international repute-- Chairperson; (ii) Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Science and Technology, ex officio--Vice-Chairperson; (iii) Presidents of Indian National Science Academy, Indian Academy of Sciences and Indian National Academy of Engineering, ex officio--Members; (iv) not more than three members to be appointed by the Central Government from amongst distinguished experts in different areas of science and technology; and (v) Secretary to the Board, ex officio--Member.

Section 2 - Substitution of sub-section4(16) of Jharkhand State Universities Act,2000 Adopted, herein after referred to as the said Act; In section4 of the said Act for sub-section-16 the following shall be substituted, namely :- "4(16)-to undertake the conduct of post graduate teaching and research work in departments maintained by the University or the State Government, the Post Graduate teaching can also be imparted in autonomous and those affiliated colleges having at least 10 years experience of conducting under Graduate courses in the subject concerned as per the norms of the statute & UGC/AICTE central organization." "10(20) The Vice-Chancellor shall have the power to transfer the Principal of a constituent college after expiry of a term of four years, but for administrative reasons Vice-Chancellor can transfer Principals, by recording reasons in writing even before the expiry of four year period". THE VEER SURENDRA SAI UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY ACT, 2008 THE VEER SURENDRA SAI UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY ACT, 2008 AN ACT FOR CONVERTING UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, BURLA INTO A UNITARY UNIVERSITY AND TO PROVIDE FOR MATTERS CONNECTED THEREWITH OR INCIDENTAL THERETO.
