Be it enacted by Parliament in the Fifty-third Year of the Republic of India as follows:-- 1. Short title This Act may be called the Representation of the People (Amendment) Act, 2002. 2. (1) A general election shall be held for the purpose of constituting a new House of the People on the expiration of the duration of the existing House or on its dissolution.
