.....Parties, each party to the conflict shall be bound to apply, as a minimum, the following provisions:- (Conflicts not of an international character.) (1) Persons taking no active part in the hostilities, including members of armed forces who have down their arms and those placed hors de combat by sickness, wounds, detention, or any other cause, shall in all circumstances be treated humanely without any adverse distinction founded on race, colour, religion or faith, sex, birth or wealth, or any other similar criteria. To this end, the following acts are and shall remain prohibited at any time and in any place whatsoever with respect to the above-mentioned persons:- (a) Violence to life and person, in particular murder of all kinds, mutilation, cruel treatment and torture; (b) taking of hostages; (c) outrages upon personal dignity, in particular, humiliating and degrading treatment; (d) the passing of sentences and the carrying out of executions without previous judgement pronounced by a regularly constituted court affording all the judicial guarantees which are recognised as indispensable by civilized peoples. .....people thereat with a view to equipping them with the necessary knowledge for starting or carrying on khadi and village industries; (e) (i) to manufacture tools and implements required for carrying on khadi and village industries and to manufacture the products of such industries; (ii) to arrange for the supply of raw materials and tools and implements required for the said purpose; and (iii) to sell and to arrange for the sale of the products of the said industries; (f) to arrange for publicity and popularising of finished products of khadi and village industries by opening stores, shops, emporiums or exhibitions and to take similar measures for the purpose; (g) to endeavour to educate public opinion and to impress upon the public the advantages of patronising the products of khadi and village industries; (h) to seek and obtain advice and guidance of experts in khadi and village industries; (i) to undertake and encourage research work in connection with khadi and village industries and to carry on such activities as are incidental and conducive to the objects of this Act; (j) to discharge such other duties and to perform such other functions as the State.....

Geneva Conventions Act, 1960 Complete Act

The existing law on the subject is to be found in the Geneva Convention Act, 1911 (an Act of the United Kingdom) as applied to India by the Gevena Convention Act, 1911 (British India) Order-in-Council dated the 24th October, 1916, and the Geneva Convention Implementing Act, 1936 (14 of 1936). The provisions of these Acts, however, are confined to extending protection to the two emblems, namely, the Red Cross and the Geneva Cross. 4. The Bill seeks to implement the Conventions in so far as it is necessary so to do and, at the same time, consolidates the law on the subject by repealing the United Kingdom Act of 1911andthe Central Act 14 of 1936and incorporating their provisions in the Bill." - Gaz. of Ind., 1959, Extra. The Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board (Amendment) Act, 1960 [1] Complete Act

Amendment of section 2."In section 2 of the Kerala Khadi and Village Industries Board Act, 1957 (Act 9 of 1957), hereinafter referred to as the principal Act," (i) after clause (ii), the following clause shall be inserted, namely : " " (ii-a) "Khadi and Village Industries Commission "means the Khadi and Village Industries Commission established under section 4 of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission Act, 1956 (Central Act 61 of 1956) ;"; (ii) after clause (iv), the following clause shall be inserted namely: " "(iv-a) "secretary" means the secretary to the Board appointed under sub-section (1) of section 10;". 3. .....and khadi industry. Basically , the scheme of the Acts appeared the same; nevertheless, there were divergent provisions in some matters in these Acts. There was no such corresponding Act in force in the Kutch area and the Act in force in the old Bombay State area did not provide for regulating the khadi industry. Moreover, in view of the impending bifurcation of the State, the Board functioning under the Bombay Act was again likely to be an inter-State Corporation and go out of the competent of the State Legislature. In the circumstances, it was considered necessary to take immediate action to consolidate the existing laws and replace them by a single law for developing and regulating village industries as well as the khadi industry and to take power to form regional Boards so that as from the day fixed for bifurcation, the new Boards established may continue to function in the two States with full swing, without further legislative action. Further, it was proposed to invest the new Boards which may be established with certain financial powers for the purpose of avoiding delay in the implementation of their programmes or schemes as approved by Government. .....rights, assets, or liabilities in relation to all or any of the banks concerned. (4) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Transfer of Property Act, 1882 or the Registration Act, 1908, the order issued under sub-section (1) shall be sufficient conveyance for transfer or vesting the rights, assets and liabilities of the banks concerned as provided in the order. (5) The amalgamation of banks under this section shall not affect any rights or obligations of the banks so amalgamated or render defective any legal proceedings which might have been continued or commenced by or against any such banks ; and accordingly, such legal proceedings may be continued or commenced by or against the amalgamated bank. (6) Where two or more banks have been amalgamated, the registration of the bank in which the other banks are amalgamated may be continued and the registration of the other banks may be cancelled, or where the amalgamated bank is newly registered, the registration of all the amalgamating banks shall be cancelled.
