Calcutta University Act, 1979 Complete Act

.....as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint, and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act. Section 2 Definitions In this Act, unless there is anything repugnant in the subject or context, (1) "affiliated" in relation to a college or an institution means affiliated to the University of Calcutta as constituted prior to the appointed day and continuing as such immediately before such day or affiliated to the University under this Act; (2) "appointed day" means the date referred to in sub-section (5) of section 59; (3) "Calcutta" means Calcutta as defined in the Calcutta Municipal Act, 1951, excluding the area referred to in clause (2) of section 5 of the Jadavpur University Act, 1955; (4) "Calcutta University Students' Union" means the students' union recognized as such by the university; (5) "constituent college" means an affiliated college in which instruction is provided, under prescribed conditions, for honours as well as for post-graduate courses of study, and which is recognized under this Act as a constituent college: Provided that, if in any professional subject no honours courses of study have been.....

Title: Provisions Regarding Industrial Disputes in Relation to Inter-state Migrant Workmen

.....the industrial dispute), may,-- (a) if the industrial dispute is relatable to an establishment referred to in sub-clause (i) of clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 2, be referred under the provisions of the said Act, by the Central Government to any of the authorities referred to in Chapter 11 of that Act (hereafter in this section referred to as the said authorities),-- (i) in the State wherein the establishment is situated; (ii) in the State wherein the recruitment of such workman was made if he makes an application in that behalf to that Government on the ground that he has returned to that Slate after the completion of his employment; (b) if the industrial dispute is relatable to an establishment referred to in sub-clause (ii) of clause (a) of sub-section (1) of section 2,-- (i) be referred under the provisions of the said Act, by the Government of the State wherein the establishment is situated, to any of the said authorities in that State; or (ii) be referred under the pro visions of the said Act, by the Government of the State wherein the recruitment of such workman was made to any of the said authorities in that State, if he makes an application in that.....

.....(ii) in relation to a factory, the owner or occupier of the factory and where a person has been named as the manager of the factory under the Factories Act, 1948, the person so named: (iii) in relation to a mine, the owner or agent of the mine and where a person has been named as the manager of the mine, the person so named; (iv) in relation to any other establishment, any person responsible for the supervision and control of the establishment.
