Maharashtra Nurses Act, 1966 Complete Act

.....It is hereby enacted in the Seventeenth Year of the Republic of India as follows :- SECTION 01: SHORT TITLE EXTENT AND COMMENCEMENT (1) This Act may be called the Maharashtra Nurses Act, 1966. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Maharashtra. (3)(a) Section 1 shall come into force at once. (b) The remaining provisions of this Act (except Chapters V and VI) shall come into force on such 2[date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint. (c) Chapter V shall come into force in the Bombay area on the date on which the remaining provisions come into force under clause (b); but that Chapter shall come into force in the rest of the State on such subsequent date as the State Government may, by like notification, appoint. (d) Chapter VI shall come into force on such date subsequent to the date referred to in clause (b) as the State Government may, by like notification, appoint. SECTION 02: DEFINITIONS In this Act unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "affiliated institution" means an institution for the nursing of the sick, maternity or child welfare, which is or which is deemed to be affiliated to the Council in accordance with this.....

.....and nursing qualifications granted by the Institute - Notwithstanding anything contained in the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, the Dentists Act, 1948 and the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947, the medical dental or nursing degrees or diplomas, as the case may be, granted by the Institute under this Act shall be recognised-- (a) medical qualifications for the purpose of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and shall be deemed to be included in the First Schedule to that Act; (b) dental qualifications for the purpose of the Dentists Act, 1948 and shall be deemed to be included in the Schedule to that Act; and (c) nursing qualifications for the purpose of the Indian Nursing Council Act, 1947 and shall be deemed to be included in the Schedule to that Act.] _________________________ 1. .....of humanities: (d) conduct experiments in new methods of medical education, both under-graduate and post-graduate, in order to arrive at satisfactory standards of such education; (e) prescribe courses and curricula for both under-graduate and post-graduate studies; (f) notwithstanding anything contained in any other law for the time being in force, establish and maintain- (i) one or more medical colleges with different departments, including a department of preventive and social medicine, sufficiently staffed and equipped to undertake not only under-graduate medical education but also post-graduate medical education in different subjects, (ii) one or more well-equipped hospitals. (iii) a dental college with such institutional facilities for the practice of dentistry and for the practical training of students as may be necessary. (iv) a nursing college sufficiently staffed and equipped for the training of nurses. (v) rural and urban health organisations which will form centres for the field training of the medical, dental and nursing students of the Institute as well as for research into community health problems, and (vi) other institutions for the training.....

Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, Act, 1966 Complete Act

.....and privileges as to pension, leave, gratuity, provident fund and other matters as he would have held the same on the date of commencement of this Act if this Act had not been passed, and shall continue to do so unless and until his employment is terminated or until such tenure, remuneration and terms and conditions are duly altered by regulations : Provided that the tenure, remuneration and terms and conditions of service of any such person shall not be altered to his disadvantage without the previous approval of the Central Government. SECTION 29: CONTINUANCE OF FACILITIES AT INSTITUTE The Institute shall continue to provide facilities to the Governments of the States of Haryana and Punjab and the Central Government in relation to the Union territories of Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh and the people of the States and territories aforesaid and such facilities shall not, in any respect, be less favourable to such Governments and people than what were being provided to them before the 1st day of November. 1966 and shall be made available for such period and upon such terms and conditions (including those relating to any contributions to be made for the provision of such.....

SEAMEN'S PROVIDENT FUND ACT, 1966 Section 2

....."Merchant Shipping Act" means the Merchant Shipping Act, 1958(44 of 1958); (k) "Scheme" means the Seamen's Provident Fund Scheme framed under sub-section (1) of section 3; (l) "seaman" means a person employed or engaged as a member of the crew of a ship under the Merchant Shipping Act but does not include1[ a welfare officer, nurse, musician, pilot or deck barber] (m) "service" means the period of employment of a seaman under the agreement with the crew and includes any period in respect of which wages are paid or are payable to him; (n) "wages" means the basic wages for the time being payable to a seaman under the agreement with the crew and includes - (i) any remuneration to which he is entitled in respect of holidays or any leave period; (ii) any increase of such wages in accordance with such agreement or any other agreement between the parties; but does not include the overtime allowance. ________________________ 1. SEAMEN'S PROVIDENT FUND ACT, 1966 Amending Act 1

Title: AMENDING ACT I

.....a maximum monthly salary of not less than six hundred rupees" shall be omitted. 5 .Amendment of section 8.- In section 8 of the principal Act, in sub-section (1), for the words "and thereafter at the rate of eight per cent.", the words and figures "for the period beginning with the 1st day of April, 1968 and ending with the 31st day of December, 1977, at the rate of eight per cent., and thereafter at the rate of ten per cent.or such higher rate as may be specified in the Scheme" shall be substituted. 6 .Amendment of section 15.- In section 15 of the principal Act, for sub-section (3), the following sub-section shall be substituted, namely:- "(3) The provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973(2 of 1974) shall, as far as may be, apply to any search or seizure under sub-section (2) as they apply to any search or seizure made under the authority of a warrant issued under section 94 of the said Code.". 7 .Amendment of section 16.- In section 16 of the principal Act, in sub-section (1), for the words "six months, or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees", the words "one year, or with fine which may extend to fifty thousand rupees" shall be.....
