The Meghalaya Transfer of Land (Regulation) (Amendment) Act, 1978 Complete Act

..... (2) It shall have the like extent as the principal Act. (3) It shall come into force at once. Amendment of Section 2 (e) of the principal Act. Act I of 1972. 2. In the Meghalaya Transfer of Land (Regulation) Act, 1971 (referred to in this Act as the principal Act), in Section 2, in clause (e) for the word "and" occurring between the words "Rabhas" and "Kacharis" a comma "(,)" shall be substituted and between the words ˜Kacharis' and "resident" the words "and Koobes" shall be inserted. Amendment of Section 3 of the principal Act. 3. In the principal Act, in Section 3,- (A) For the full-stop "(.)" at the end of subsection (1) a colon "(;)" shall be substituted ; (B) The following proviso to sub-section (1) shall be inserted, namely:- "Provided that the Government of Meghalaya, if satisfied may, from time, by notification, prohibit such transfer of land within such area or areas as may be specified in the notification and thereupon the competent authority shall not sanction any such transfer of land under the provision of this Act, within such area or areas." (C) after sub-section (1), the following sub-section shall be inserted, namely:- "(2).....

THE SIKKIM CIVIL COURTS ACT, 1978 THE SIKKIM CIVIL COURTS ACT, 1978 SIKKIM ACT NO.9 OF 1978 An Act to consolidate the law relating to Civil Courts subordinate to the High Court in the State of Sikkim. [31st March, 1978 WHEREAS it is expedient to consolidate the law relating to Civil Courts subordinate to the High Court in the State of Sikkim; It is hereby enacted in the Twenty-ninth Year of the Republic of India by the Legislature of Sikkim as follows: CHAPTER I PRELIM IN AR Y Short title and commencement. 1. (1) This Act may be called the Sikkim Civil Courts Act, 1978. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the State Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint CHAPTER II CONSTITUTION OF CIVIL COURTS Classes of Courts. 2. Besides the High Court and the Courts constituted under any other law for the time being in force, there shall be the following classes of Civil Courts, namely: (1) the Court of the District Judge; (2) the Court of the Additional District Judge; and (3) the Court of the Civil Judge. Number of Judges. 3. The State Government may increase or otherwise alter the number of the District.....

PRESS COUNCIL ACT, 1978 PRESS COUNCIL ACT, 1978 37 OF 1978 An Act to establish a Press Council for the purpose of preserving the freedom of the Press and of maintaining and improving the standards of newspaper and news agencies in India. Be it enacted by Parliament in the Twenty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows :-STATEMENT OF OBJECTS AND REASONS The Press Council of India was established in July, 1966 under Press Council Act, 1965, mainly to preserve the freedom of the Press and to maintain and improve the standards of newspapers and news agencies in the country. During the Emergency the Press Council was dissolved with effect from the 1st January, 1976. 2. As a part of a series of measures now being undertaken by the Government to restore the freedom of the Press and keep up the independence standards of newspapers in the country, it is proposed to revive the Press Council of India. This Bill seeks to establish a Press Council of India and is on the same lines as Press Council Act, 1965, with the following changes :- (a) The Chairman of the Council will be nominated by the Chief Justice of India and the other members thereof representing the newspapers.....

Coast Guard Act, 1978 Complete Act

.....Parliament in the Twenty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows CHAPTER 1: PRELIMINARY: SECTION 1: Short title and commencement: (1) This Act may be called The Coast Guard Act, 1978. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint , SECTION 2: Definitions: In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "Chief Law Officer" and "Law Officer" mean, respectively, the Chief Law Officer and a Law Officer of the Coast Guard appointed under (section 115); (b) "civil offence" means an offence which is triable by a criminal Court. (c) "civil prison" means any jail or place used for the detention of any criminal prisoner under (Prisons Act, 1894), or under any other raw for the time being in force; (d) "Coast Guard" means the Coast Guard constituted under this Act: (e) "Coast Guard Court" means a court convened under (section 64); (f) "Coast Guard custody" means the arrest or confinement of a member of the Coast Guard according to rules; (g) "Commanding Officer", when used in any provision of this Act with reference to any unit or ship of the Coast Guard, means the officer whose duty it.....

The Assam Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Reservation of Vacancies in Services and Posts) Act, 1978 Complete Act
