..... [Act, No. 14 of 2003] [17th January, 2003] An Act further to amend the Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (Regulation and Prevention of Misuse) Act, 1994. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Fifty-third Year of the Republic of India as follows:-- 1. Short title and commencement (1) This Act may be called the Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (Regulation and Preventin of Misuse) Amendment Act, 2002. (2) It shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint. 2. Substitution of long title In the Pre-natal Diagnostic Techniques (Regulation and Prevention of Misuse) Act, 1994 (57 of 1994) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), for the long title, the following long title shall be substituted, namely:-- "An Act to provide for the prohibition of sex selection, before or after conception, and for regulation of pre-natal diagnostic techniques for the purposes of detecting genetic abnormalities or metabolic disorders or chromosomal abnormalities or certain congenital malformations or sex-linked disorders and for the prevention of their misuse for sex determination leading to female foeticide and for.....

.....DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUES (REGULATION AND PREVENTION OF MISUSE) ACT, 1994 PRE-NATAL DIAGNOSTIC TECHNIQUES (REGULATION AND PREVENTION OF MISUSE) ACT, 1994 57 OF 1994 "An Act to provide for the prohibition of sex selection, before or after conception, and for regulation of pre-natal diagnostic techniques for the purposes of detecting genetic abnormalities or metabolic disorders or chromosomal abnormalities or certain congenital malformations or sex-linked disorders and for the prevention of their misuse for sex determination leading to female foeticide and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto." Be it enacted by Parliament in the Forth-fifty Year of the Republic of India as follows:-Prefatory Note- Statement of Objects and Reasons.-It is proposed to prohibit pre-natal diagnostic techniques for determination of sex of the foetus leading to female foeticide. Such abuse of techniques is discriminatory against the female sex and affects the dignity and status of women. A legislation is required to regulate the use of such techniques and to provide deterrent punishment to stop such inhuman act. 2. The Bill, inter alia, provides for:- (i) prohibition of the misuse.....

SECTION 04: RESTRICTIONS ON CARRYING ARMS AND AMMUNITION INTO A RELIGIOUS INSTITUTION - No religious institution or manager thereof shall allow the entry of any arms or ammunition or of any person carrying any arms or ammunition into the religious institution : Provided that nothing in this section shall apply to- (a) the wearing and carrying of a kirpan by any person professing the Sikh religion; or (b) any arms which are used as part of any religious ceremony or ritual of the institution as established by customs or usage. SECTION 05: PROHIBITION OF USE OF FUNDS OF RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS FOR CERTAIN ACTIVITIES - No religious institution or manager thereof shall use or allow the use of any funds or other properties belonging to, or under the control of. the institution for the benefit of any political party or for the purpose of any political activity or for the commission of any act which is punishable as an offence under any law. Section 8B - Further Additional Tax for misuse of Motor Vehicle 1[8B. Further Additional Tax for misuse of Motor Vehicle When any motor vehicle in respect of which tax has been paid is misused or used not in accordance with the purpose for which the vehicle is registered or the permit is granted or is used in such manner as to cause the vehicle to become a vehicle in respect of which a higher rate of tax is payable, the registered owner or person who is in possession or control of such vehicle, shall for such misuse other than the one under sub-section (4) of section 3, pay a further additional tax of a sum which is equal to double the difference between the tax already paid and the tax which is payable in respect of such vehicle for the period for which the higher rate of tax is payable in consequence of its being misused or used not in accordance with the purpose for which the vehicle is registered or the permit is granted.] _______________________________ 1.
