THE KERALA COMPENSATION FOR TENANTS IMPROVEMENTS ACT, 1958 THE KERALA COMPENSATION FOR TENANTS IMPROVEMENTS ACT, 1958 ACT 29 Of 1958 [1] An Act To Make Provisions For Payment Of Compensation For Improvements Made by thetenants in the state of kerala . Preamble.-WHEREAS it is necessary to make provisions for the payment of compensation for improvements made by tenants in the State of Kerala ; BE it enacted in the Ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows: 1. Short title, extent and commencement.-(1) This Act may be called the Kerala Compensation for Tenants Improvements Act, 1958. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Kerala (3) It shall come into force at once. 2. Definitions.-In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires. (a) "eviction" means the recovery of possession of land from a tenant; (b) "improvement" means any work or product of a work which adds to the value of the holding, is suitable to it and consistent with the purpose for which the holding is let, mortgaged or occupied, but does not include such clearances, embankments, leveling , enclosures, temporary wells and water-channels as are made by the tenant in the ordinary course of.....

WHEREAS it is expedient to enact a comprehensive legislation relating to land reforms in the Mahe region of the Union territory of Pondicherry; BE it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of Pondicherry in the Nineteenth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- CHAPTER I PRELIMINARY Short title, extent and commencement. 1. (1) This Act may be called the Mahe Land Reforms Act, 1968. (2) It extends to the whole of Mahe region of the Union territory of Pondicherry. The Act came into force from 22nd March, 1968 vide Extraordinary Gazette No.23, dated 22nd March, 1968. (3) The provisions of this Act, except this section which shall come into force at once, shall come into force on such date as the Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint; Provided that different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act, and any reference to the commencement of this Act in.....

Title: Hoisting Unlawful Colours in Port

.....or Commonwealth citizen], or sailing under2[Indian or British colours], hoists, carries or wears, within the limits of any port subject to this Act, any flag, jack, pennant or colours, the use whereof on board such vessel has been prohibited by the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, or any other Statute now or hereafter to be in force, or by any proclamation made or to be made in pursuance of any such statute, or by any of3[the regulations] in force for the time being, the master of the vessel shall, for every such offence, be punishable with fine which may extend to fifty rupees. (2) Such fine shall be in addition to any other penalty recoverable in respect of such an offence. (3) The conservator of the port or any officer of4[the Indian Navy] may enter on board any such vessel and seize and take away any flag, jack, pennant or colours so unlawfully hoisted, carried or worn on board the same. ___________________________ 1.
