Maharashtra Consumer Protection Rules, 2000 Complete Act

.....the powers conferred by sub-section (4) of section 7, sub-section (3) of section 10 , clause (c) of subsection (1) of section 13, sub-section (3) of section 14, section 15 and subsection (2) of section 16 of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 (68 of 1986) and of all previous rules, notifications orders, in this behalf, the Government of Maharashtra hereby makes the following Rules, namely : RULE 01: SHORT TITLE AND COMMENCEMENT (1) These Rules may be called the Maharashtra Consumer Protection Rules, 2000. (2) It shall come into force on the 16th February, 2000. RULE 02: DEFINITION In these rules, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "Act" means the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 (68 of 1986); (b) "Agent" means a person duly authorised by a party to present any complaint appeal or reply on its behalf before the State Commission or District Forum; (c) "Appellant" means a party preferring an appeal against the order of the District Forum; (d) "Defendant" means a person responding to the complaint or the claim; (e) "Memorandum" means the memorandum of appeal filed by the appellant; (f) "President" means the president of the State Commission or as the case may be, the District.....

.....received by the Competent Authority from the Police Department in which prosecutions have been launched. (ii) The number of such applications permitted or rejected; (iii) The number of interceptions carried out in emergency situations and the number of ex-post-facto authorizations or approvals granted or rejected in such matters; (iv) The number of prosecutions launched based on such interceptions and convictions resulting from such interceptions along with an explanatory memorandum giving general assessment of the utility and importance of the interceptions authorized. (2) Such annual report shall be laid by the State Government before each House of the State Legislature within three months of the completion of every calendar year: Provided that if the State Government is of the opinion that the inclusion of any matter in the annual report would be prejudicial to the security of the State or to the prevention or detection of any organized crime, the State Government may exclude such matter from being included in such annual report.

(2) Any reference in this Act to any enactment or any provision thereof shall, in relation to an area in which such enactment or such provision is not in force, be construed as a reference to the corresponding law or the relevant provision of the corresponding law, if any, in force in that area. SECTION 03: AUTHENTICATION OF ELECTRONIC RECORDS (1) Subject to the provisions of this section any subscriber may authenticate an electronic record by affixing his digital signature. (2) The authentication of the electronic record shall be effected by the use of asymmetric crypto system and hash function which envelop and transform the initial electronic record into another electronic record. Explanation."For the purposes of this sub-section, "hash function" means an algorithm mapping or translation of one sequence of bits into another, generally smaller, set known as "hash result" such that an electronic record yields the same hash result every time the algorithm is executed with the same electronic record as its input making it computationally infeasible" (a).....
