PATENTS ACT, 1970 PATENTS ACT, 1970 39 OF 1970 An Act to amend and consolidate the law relating to patents. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Twenty-first Year of the Republic of India as follows:- CHAPTER 1 : PRELIMINARY SECTION 1 : Short title, extent and commencement (1) This Act may be called the Patents Act, 1970. (2) It extends to the whole of India. (1) A patentee may, at any time by giving notice in the prescribed manner to the Controller, offer to surrender this patent. (2) Where such an offer is made, the Controller shall1[publish] the offer in the prescribed manner, and also notify every person other than the patentee whose name appears in the register as having an interest in the patent.
