Prohibition of Admission of Students to the Un-recognised and Un-affiliated Educational Institutions Act, 1992 Section 2

Title: Definitions

.....education in Shorthand and Typewriting, Book-keeping and Accountancy, Commerce, Office Practice and Procedure, Salesmanship and Marketing, Banking Practice, Insurance Practice and such other subjects as may be notified by the State Government; (b) 'Commerce Institution' means any institution imparting commerce education and presenting students for examinations conducted by the Karnataka State Secondary Education Examination Board; (c) 'Competent Authority' means any person, officer or authority authorised by the State Government, by notification, to perform the functions and discharge the duties of the competent authority under all or any of the provisions of this Act for such area or for such purposes or for such classes of institutions as may be specified in the notification; (d) 'Educational Institution' means any institution by whatever name called other than Commerce Institution, whether managed by Government, Private body, Local Authority, Society, Trust, University or any other person carrying on the activity of imparting education in General Education, Professional Education, Medical Education, Technical Education, leading to a degree conferred or Diploma granted by.....

....."Study Centre", means a centre established, maintained or for valuation and for conducting the examination or recognised by the University for the purpose of advising, councelling or for rendering any other assistance required by the students; (l) "teacher" means Professors, Readers, Lecturers and such other persons as may be designated as such by the Ordinance for imparting instruction in the University or for giving guidance or rendering assistance to students for pursuing any course of study of the University; (m) "University" means the Karnataka State Open University established under section 3 of the Act; (n) "Vice-Chancellor" and "Registrar" means respectively, the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar of the University.

(8) Where the Board does not, within a reasonable time, take action to the satisfaction of the Visitor, the Visitor may, after considering any explanation furnished or representation made by the Board, issue such directions as he may think fit and the Board shall be bound to comply with such directions. The objects of the University shall be-- (a) to impart education in different branches of agricultural and allied sciences as it may deem fit; (b) to further the advancement of learning and prosecution of research in agricultural and allied sciences; (c) to undertake programmes of extension education in the States under its jurisdiction; and (d) to undertake such other activities as it may, from time to time, determine.

The Tamil Nadu Educational Institutions (Prohibition of Colletion of Capitation Fee) Act, 1992 Complete Act

.....to the management of such educational institution if he has reason to believe that there is or has been any contravention of the provisions of this Act or the rules made there under and search and inspect any record, accounts, register or other document belonging to such educational institution or of the management, in so far as any such record, accounts, register or other document relates to such educational institution and seize any such record, accounts, register or other document for the purpose of ascertaining whether there is or has been any such contravention. (2) In order to secure proper and effective utilization of the finances or resources of other assets of any educational institution in existence on the date of the commencement of this Act, it shall be competent for the Government to invoke the provisions of sub-section (1) and ascertain such finances, resources and assets of such educational institution and after such ascertainment to give such directions to the management as they deem fit. (3) The provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973, (Central Act 2 of 1974), relating to search and seizure shall apply, so far as may be, to search and seizure.....
