Title: Landing of Seamen

(1) No seaman or member of the crew of an aircraft, being a foreigner, shall land in India without a special permit from the Superintendent of Police or any other Police Officer not below the rank of a Sub--Inspector or Sargent. (2) No such permit shall be granted unless the owners or agents of the vessel or aircraft have undertaken either generally in respect of all members of the crew of vessels or aircraft belonging to or managed by them or in an individual case the responsibility for the maintenance of such seaman or member of the crew during his residence in India and for the expenses of his departure from India. (3) For the purpose of this paragraph "seaman" has the meaning assigned to it in the Registration of Foreigners Rules, 19391 . (4) The provisions of this paragraph are in addition to, and not in derogation of, the provisions of paragraph 3. ________________________ 1. Now "The Registration of Foreigners Rules, 1992".

SEAMEN'S PROVIDENT FUND ACT, 1966 Section 3

Title: Seamens Provident Fund Scheme

(1) The Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, frame a scheme to be called the Seamen's Provident Fund Scheme for the established, as soon as may be after the framing of the Scheme, a Fund in accordance with the provisions of this Act and the Scheme. (2) Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Scheme may provide for all or any of the matters specified in the Schedule to this Act. (3) The Scheme may provide that any of its provisions shall take effect either prospectively or retrospectively on such date as may be specified in this behalf in the Scheme. (4) The Scheme shall have effect notwithstanding anything contained in any law for the time being in force other than this Act or in any instrument having effect by virtue of any law other than this Act. (5) The Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, add to, amend, very or rescind the Scheme.

Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 Chapter 2

.....Central Government may, in public interest and in consultation with the Reserve Bank, impose such reasonable restrictions for current account transactions as may be prescribed. Section 6 - Capital account transactions (1) Subject to the provisions of sub-section (2),any person may sell or draw foreign exchange to or from an authorised person for acapital account transaction. (2) The Reserve Bank may, in consultation with the Central Government, specify - (a) any class or classes of capital account transactions which are permissible; (b) the limit up to which foreign exchange shall be admissible for such transactions: Provided that the Reserve Bank shall not impose any restriction on the drawal of foreign exchange for payments due on account of amortization of loans or for depreciation of direct investments in the ordinary course of business. (3) Without prejudice to the generality of the provisions of sub-section (2), the Reserve Bank may, by regulations prohibit, restrict or regulate the following: - (a) transfer or issue of any foreign security by a person resident in India; (b) transfer or issue of any security by a person resident outside India; (c).....

Amendment of title of Chapter II. - In the principal Act, in sub-heading below "Chapter II", for the words "EXPORT AND IMPORT POLICY", the words "FOREIGN TRADE POLICY" shall be substituted. 4. Amendment of section 3. - In section 3 of the principal Act,-(a) in sub-section (2),-(i) for the words "import or export of goods", the words "import or export of goods or services or technology" shall be substituted;(ii) after sub-section (2), the following proviso shall be inserted, namely:-"Provided that the provisions of this sub-section shall be applicable, in case of import or export of services or technology, only when the service or technology provider is availing benefits under the foreign trade policy or is dealing with specified services or specified technologies.".(b) after sub-section (3), the following sub-section shall be inserted, namely:-"(4) without prejudice to anything contained in any other law, rule, regulation, notification or order, no permit or licence shall be necessary for import or export.....
