(2) The Central Government may at any time, by notification in the Official Gazette, convert such number of equity shares held by it, as it may decide into redeemable preference shares. Title: Privileges of Multi-state Co-operative Societies

.....from the salary or wages payable to him, such amount as may be specified in the agreement and pay the amount so deducted to the society in satisfaction of any debt or other demand owing by the member to the society. (2) On the execution of such agreement, the employer disbursing the salary or wages of the members shall, if so required by the multi-State co-operative society by a requisition in writing and so long as the society does not intimate that the whole of such debt or other demand has been paid, make the deduction in accordance with the agreement And pay the amount so deducted to the society within a period of fourteen days of the date on which deduction has been made, as if it were a part of the salary or wages payable on the day as required under the Payment of Wages Act, 1936, and such payment shall be valid discharge of the employer for his liability to pay the amount deducted. Title: Exemption from Compulsory Registration of Instruments

Nothing in clauses (b) and(c) of sub-section (1) of section 17 of the Registration Act, 1908-, shall apply to- (a) Any instrument relating to shares in a multi-State co-operative society notwithstanding that the assets of the society consist in whole or in part of immovable property; or (b) Any debenture issued by any such. society and not creating, declaring assigning, limiting or extinguishing any right, title or interest to or in immovable property, except in so far as, it entitles the holder thereof to the security afforded by a registered instrument whereby the society has mortgaged, conveyed or otherwise transferred the whole or part of its immovable property or any interest therein to trustees upon trust for the benefit of the holders of such debentures; or (c) An endorsement upon or transfer of any debenture issued by any such society.

Title: Multi-state Co-operative Societies Act, 2002

.....shall apply to-- (a) all co-operative societies, with objects not confined to one State which were incorporated before the commencement of this Act,-- (i) under the Co-operative Societies Act, 1912, 2 OF 1912 or (ii) under any other law relating to co-operative societies in force in any State or in pursuance of the Multi-unit Co-operative Societies Act, 1942, 6 of 1942 or the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act, 1984, 51 of 1984, and the registration of which has not been cancelled before such commencement; and (b) all multi-State co-operative societies. 3. Definitions In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,-- (a) "area of operation" means the area from which the persons are admitted as members; (b) "board" means the board of directors or the governing body of a multi-State co-operative society, by whatever name called, to which the direction and control of the management of the affairs of the society is entrusted; (c) "bye-laws" means the bye-laws for the time being in force which have been duly registered or deemed to have been registered under this Act and includes amendments thereto which have been duly registered or deemed to have been.....
