.....byParliament in the Fifty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:- CHAPTER I. PRELIMINARY 1. Short title and commencement (1) This Act may becalled the Finance Act, 2006. (2) Save as otherwiseprovided in this Act, sections 2 to 57 shall be deemed to have come into forceon the 1st day of April, 2006. CHAPTER II. RATES OF INCOME-TAX 2. Income-tax (1) Subject to theprovisions of sub-sections (2) and (3), for the assessment year commencing onthe 1st day of April, 2006, income-tax shall be charged at the rates specifiedin Part I of the First Schedule and such tax as reduced by the rebate ofincome-tax calculated under Chapter VIII-A of the Income-tax Act, 1961(43 of1961) (hereinafter referred to as the Income-tax Act) shall be increased by asurcharge for purposes of the Union calculated in each case in the mannerprovided therein. .....for general information. (3) Regulations so made shall be published in the Official Gazette, and on such publication shall have effect as if enacted in this Act. SECTION 31: FAILURE TO SUBMIT RETURNS (1) If default is made on the part of any registered Trade Union in giving any notice or sending any statement or other document as required by or under any provision of this Act, every40[office-bearer] or other person bound by the rules of the Trade Union to give or send the same, or, if there is no such40[office-bearer] or person, every member of the executive of the Trade Union, shall be punishable with fine which may extend to five rupees and, in the case of a continuing default, with an additional fine which may extend to five rupees for each week after the first during which the default continues : Provided that the aggregate fine shall not exceed fifty rupees. (2) Any person who wilfuly makes, or causes to be made, any false entry in, or any omission from, the general statement required by section 28-, or in or from any copy of rules or of alterations of rules sent to the Registrar under that section, shall be punishable with fine which may extend to five hundred.....

Title: Liability of Certain Governments to Taxation in Respect of Trading Operations

Trade Unions Act, 1926 Section 18

Title: Immunity from Civil Suit in Certain Cases

(1) No suit or other legal proceeding shall be maintainable in any Civil Court against any registered Trade Union or any1[office-bearer] or member thereof in respect of any act done in contemplation or furtherance of a trade dispute to which a member of the Trade Union is a party on the ground only that such act induces some other person to break a contract of employment, or that it is in interference with the trade, business or employment of some other person or with the right of some other person to dispose of his capital or of his labour as he wills. (2) A registered Trade Union shall not be liable in any suit or other legal proceeding in any Civil Court in respect of any tortious act done in contemplation or furtherance of a trade dispute by an agent of the Trade Union if it is proved that such person acted without the knowledge of, or contrary to express instructions given by, the executive of the Trade Union. _______________________ 1. Trade Unions Act, 1926 Section 19

Title: Enforceability of Agreements

Notwithstanding anything contained in any other law for the time being in force, an agreement between the members of a registered Trade Union shall not be void or voidable merely by reason of the fact that any of the objects of the agreement are in restraint of trade: Provided that nothing in this section shall enable any Civil Court to entertain any legal proceeding instituted for the express purpose of enforcing or recovering damages for the breach of any agreement concerning the conditions on which any members of a Trade Union shall or shall not sell their goods transact business, work, employ or be employed.

WHEREAS it is expedient to determine the liability to taxation for the time being in force1[* * *] of the Government of any part of His Majesty's Dominions,2[* * *]3[* * *] in respect of any trade or business carried on by or on behalf of such Government; It is hereby enacted as follows :- The Act has been extended to the new Provinces and Merged States by theMerged States (Laws) Act, 1949 (59 of 1949), S. 3 (1-1-1950) and to the Union territories of Manipur and Tripura by theUnion Territories (Laws) Act, 1950 (30 of 1950), S. 3 (16-4-1950). Manipur and Tripura are now States (Act 81 of 1971) but Vindhya Pradesh to which this 'Act was also extended by Act 30 of 1950 is now a part of M. P. State - See Act 37 of 1956, Sec. 9(l)(e). It has been extended to all the Merged States by Taxation Laws (Extension to Merged States and Amendment) Act, 1949 (67 of 1949), S. 3 (31-12-1949). It has been extended to the Merged.....
