The Orissa Betterment Charges Act, 1955 Complete Act

.....suit, prosecution or other legal proceeding shall lie against any person in respect of anything done or intended to be done in good faith under this Act or the rules made thereunder. Section 20 - Powers of Revenue and Canal Officer to summon persons, etc. The Revenue Officer, Canal Officer or any other officer authorised by any of them or the authority prescribed in pursuance of Section 12 shall have the same powers as are vested in a Court under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (V of 1908) when trying a suit in respect of the following matters, namely: (a) enforcing the attendance of any person and examining him on oath or affirmation; (b) compelling the production of documents, and any proceeding under this Act before the Revenue Officer, Canal Officer or any other officer authorised by them shall be deemed to be 'judicial proceeding' within the meaning of Sections 193 and 228, and for the purpose of Section 196 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (XLV of 1860).
