Title: Vice-chairman or Senior-most Member to Act as Chairman or Discharge His Functions in Certain Circumstances

(1) In the event of or any vacancy in the office of the Chairman by reasons of his death, resignation or otherwise, the Vice-Chairman and in his absence the senior-most Member shall act as Chairman until the date on which a new Chairman, appointed in accordance with the provisions of this Act to fill such vacancy, enters upon his office. (2) When the Chairman is unable to discharge his functions owing to his absence, illness or any other cause, the Vice-Chairman and in his absence the senior-most Member shall discharge the functions of the Chairman until the date on which the Chairman resumes his duty.

Title: Tax on Income from Units of an Open-ended Equity Oriented Fund of the Unit Trust of India or of Mutual Funds

1[(1) Where the total income of an assessee includes any income from units of an open-ended equity oriented fund of the Unit Trust of India or of a Mutual Fund, the income-tax payable shall be the aggregate of (a) the amount of income-tax calculated on income from units of an open-ended equity-oriented fund of the Unit Trust of India or of a Mutual Fund, at the rate of ten per cent ; and (b) the amount of income-tax with which the assessee would have been chargeable had his total income been reduced by the amount of income referred to in clause (a). (2) Nothing contained in sub-section (1) shall apply in relation to any income from units of an open-ended equity-oriented fund of the Unit Trust of India or of the Mutual Fund arising after the 31st day of March, 2003. Explanation : For the purposes of this section, the expressions Mutual Fund, open-ended equity-oriented fund and Unit Trust of India shall have the meanings respectively assigned to them in the Explanation to section 115T.] ________________________ 1. Title: Duty of Liquidator to Call General Meeting at End of Each Year

(1) Subject to the provisions of section 498, in the event of the winding up continuing for more than one year, the liquidator shall- (a) call a general meeting of the company at the end of the first year from the commencement of the winding up, and at the end of each succeeding year, or as soon thereafter as may be convenient within three months from the end of the year or such longer period as the Central Government may allow; and (b) lay before the meeting an account of his acts and dealings and of the conduct of the winding up during the preceding year, together with a statement in the prescribed form and containing the prescribed particulars with respect to the proceedings in, and position of, the liquidation. (2) If the liquidator fails to comply with sub-section (1) he shall be punishable in respect of each failure, with fine which may extend to1[one thousand rupees], ____________________ 1. Prohibition of public meetings during period of forty-eight hours ending with hour fixed for conclusion of poll (1) No person shall-- (a) convene, hold, attend, join or address any public meeting or procession in connection with an election; or (b) display to the public any election matter by means of cinematograph, "television or other similar apparatus; or (c) propagate any election matter to the public by holding, or by arranging the holding of, any musical concert or any theatrical performance or any other entertainment or amusement with a view to attracting the members of the public thereto, in any polling area during the period of forty-eight hours ending with the hour fixed for the conclusion of the poll for any election in that polling area. (2) Any person who contravenes the provisions of sub-section (1) shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years or with fine, or with both.
