.....of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 (1 of 1894); or (h) the recognised stock exchange referred to in clause (f) of section 2 of the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act, 1956 (42 of 1956); or (i) an officer of the Reserve Bank of India, constituted under section 3 of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 (2 of 1934); or (j) a depository referred to in clause (e) of sub-section (1) of section 2 of the Depositories Act, 1996 (22 of 1996), who is responsible for registering, or maintaining books of account or other documents containing a record of any specified financial transaction, under any law for the time being in force, shall furnish an annual information return, in respect of such specified3 financial transaction which is registered or recorded by him during any financial year beginning on or after the 1st day of April, 2004 and information relating to which is relevant and required for the purposes of this Act, to the prescribed4 income-tax authority or such other authority or agency as may be prescribed4. .....in the Fifty-eighth Year of the Republic of India as follows- CHAPTER 1: PRELIMINARY: SECTION 1: Short title and commencement: (1) This Act may be called the Finance Act, 2007. (2) Save as otherwise provided in this Act, sections 2 to 93 shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of April, 2007. CHAPTER 2: RATES OF INCOME-TAX: SECTION 2: Income-tax: (1) Subject to the provisions of sub-sections (2) and (3), for the assessment year commencing on the 1st day of April, 2007, income-tax shall be charged at the rates specified in Part I of the First Schedule and such tax as reduced by the rebate of income-tax calculated under Chapter VIII-A of the Income-tax Act, 1961(43 of 1961) (hereinafter referred to as the Income-tax Act) shall be increased by a surcharge for purposes of the Union calculated in each case in the manner provided therein. (2) In the cases to which Paragraph A of Part I of the First Schedule applies, where the assessee has, in the previous year, any net agricultural income exceeding five thousand rupees, in addition to total income, and the total income exceeds one lakh rupees, then,-- (a) the net agricultural income shall be taken.....

In section 295 of the Income-tax Act, in sub-section (2), after clause (eeb), the following clauses shall be inserted and shall be deemed to have been inserted, with effect from the 1st day of June, 2006, namely:-- "(eeba) the documents, statements, receipts, certificates or audited reports which may not be furnished along with the return but shall be produced before the Assessing Officer on demand under section 139C; (eebb) the class or classes of persons who shall he required to furnish the return of income in electronic form; the form and the manner of furnishing the said return in electronic form; documents, statements, receipts, certificates or reports which shall not be furnished with the return in electronic form and the computer resource or electronic record to which such return may be transmitted under section 139D;".

Substitution of new section for section 6 For section 6 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), the following section shall be substituted, namely:-- '6. "Cheque".-- A "cheque" is a bill of exchange drawn on a specified banker and not expressed to be payable otherwise than on demand and it includes the electronic image of a truncated cheque and a cheque in the electronic form. Explanation 1.--For the purposes of this section, the expressions-- (a) "a cheque in the electronic form" means a cheque which contains the exact mirror image of a paper cheque, and is generated, written and signed in a secure system ensuring the minimum safety standards with the use of digital signature (with or without biometrics signature) and asymmetric crypto system; (b) "a truncated cheque" means a cheque which is truncated during the course of a clearing cycle, either by the clearing house or by the bank whether paying or receiving payment, immediately on generation of an electronic image for transmission,.....

.....When the holder of an accepted bill of exchange enters into any contract with the acceptor which, under section 134 or 135 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872 (9 of 1872), would discharge the other parties, the holder may expressly reserve his right to charge the other parties, and in such case they are not discharged. SECTION 40: DISCHARGE OF INDORSER'S LIABILITY Where the holder of a negotiable instrument, without the consent of the indorser, destroys or impairs the indorser's remedy against a prior party, the indorser is discharged from liability to the holder to the same extent as if the instrument had been paid at maturity. Illustration A is the holder of a bill of exchange made payable to the order of B, which contains the following indorsements in blank- First indorsement, "B". Second indorsement, "Peter Williams".
