Amending Act 1 - ELECTRICITY REGULATORY COMMISSIONS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2001 THE ELECTRICITY REGULATORY COMMISSIONS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2001 [Act, No. 21 of 2001] [29th August, 2001] PREAMBLE An act to amend the Electricity Regulatory Commissions Act, 1998. Be it enacted by Parliament in the Fifty-second Year of the Republic of India as follows: -- 1. Short title This Act may be called the Electricity Regulatory Commissions (Amendment) Act, 2001. 2. Amendment of section 2 In the Electricity Regulatory Commissions Act, 1998 (14 of 1998) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), in section 2, -- (a) In clause (c), for the words or the State Commission, the words or the State Commission or the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission shall be substituted; (b) After clause (e), the following clause shall be inserted, namely: -- (ea) Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission means the Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission constituted under section 21A; 3.Insertion of new Chapter IVA After Chapter IV of the principal Act, the following Chapter shall be inserted, namely: -- CHAPTER IVA JOINT ELECTRICITY REGULATORY COMMISSION 21A......

ELECTRICITY ACT, 2003 ELECTRICITY ACT, 2003 An Act to consolidate the laws relating to generation, transmission, distribution, trading and use of electricity and generally for taking measures conducive to development of electricity industry, promoting competition therein, protecting interest of consumers and supply of electricity to all areas, rationalisation of electricity tariff, ensuring transparent policies regarding subsidies, promotion of efficient and environmentally benign policies, constitution of Central Electricity Authority, Regulatory Commissions and establishment of Appellate Tribunal and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
