THE KERALA PRESERVATION OF TREES ACT, 1986[1] THE KERALA PRESERVATION OF TREES ACT, 1986[1] (ACT 35 OF 1986) An Act to provide for the preservation of trees in the State of Kerala. Preamble.-WHEREAS there has been indiscriminate felling and destruction of trees, in the State of Kerala resulting in considerable soil erosion and destruction and loss of the timber wealth of the State; AND WHEREAS with a view to prevent soil erosion and destruction and loss of the timber wealth in the State, it is necessary to regulate the felling and destruction of trees in the State; BE it enacted in the Thirty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. Short title, extent and commencement.-This Act may be called the Kerala Preservation of Trees Act, 1986. (2) It extends to the whole of the State of Kerala. (3) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 18th day of June, 1983. 2. Definitions.-In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,- (a) "appellate authority" means an appellate authority appointed under sub-section (2) of section 3; (b) "authorized officer" means an officer appointed under sub-section (1) of section 3; (c) "owner" in.....

THE KERALA FOREST (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1986 1 THE KERALA FOREST (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1986 1 (ACT 20 OF 1986) An Act further to amend the Kerala Forest Act, 1961 Preamble.- WHEREAS it is expedient further to amend the Kerala Forest Act, 1961, for the purpose hereinafter appearing; BE it enacted in the Thirty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Kerala Forest (Amendment) Act, 1986. (2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of September; 1984 2. Insertion of new Chapter XA.- In the Kerala Forest Act, 1961 (4 of 1962) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), after Chapter X, the following Chapter shall be inserted, namely:- " CHAPTER XA FOREST DEVELOPMENT TAX 75A. Levy of forest development tax.- (1) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act, in respect of forest produce disposed of by the Government by sale, there shall be levied and collected a tax at the rate of five per cent of the amount of consideration paid therefor: Provided that no tax under this sub-section shall be levied and collected on any forest produce, except timber,.....

THE SIKKIM WATER SUPPLY AND WATER TAX ACT, 1986 THE SIKKIM WATER SUPPLY AND WATER TAX ACT, 1986 (ACT NO.8 OF 1986) AN ACT To provide for regulation of the supply of water, realization of charges for supply of water and tax on water and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto. Be it enacted by the Legislature of Sikkim in the Thirty-seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows: Short title, extent and commencement. 1. (1) This Act may be called the Sikkim Water Supply and Water Tax Act, 1986. (2) It extends to the whole of Sikkim. WHEREAS the agricultural service co-operative societies are vital co-operative organizations which play a crucial role in helping farmers at the village level: AND WHEREAS no elections for the committees or the boards of the agricultural service co-operative societies have been held after the year 1975: AND WHEREAS the continuance of the committees or the boards of such agricultural service co-operative societies for a long period without elections will not be conducive to the orderly development and growth of the co-operative movement at the village level: AND WHEREAS it is expedient to provide for the appointment of Special Officers for such co-operative societies for a limited period, in the public interest, to manage the affairs of such co-operative societies and for the purpose of conducting free and fair elections to the committees.....
