THE CHHATTISGARH EXCISE ACT, 1915 THE CHHATTISGARH EXCISE ACT, 1915 [Act No. 02 of 1915] PREAMBLE An Act to consolidated and amend the Excise Law in Chhattisgarh. As amended subsequent to its extension to the entire State of Chhattisgarh by the following:- Where it is expedient to consolidated and amend the law in Chhattisgarh relating to the import, export, transport, manufacture, sale and possession on intoxicating liquor and of intoxicating drugs, and whereas the previous sanction of the Governor-General, required under Sections of the Indian Councils Act, 1892 (55 and 56, Vict., c. 14), has been obtained to the passing of this Act. It is hereby enacted as follows:-- Chapter I - PRELIMINARY Section 1 - Short title, extent and commencement (1) This Act may be called the Chhattisgarh Excise Act, 1915. (2) It extends to and shall be in force in whole of the Chhattisgarh. Title: Forfeiture of Publication Containing Prohibited Advertisements

(1) Where any newspaper, news-sheet, book, leaflet, booklet or other publication, wherever printed or published, appears to the State Government to contain any advertisement or matter soliciting the use of or offering any intoxicant or hemp, the State Government may, by notification, declare every copy of such newspaper, news-sheet, book, leaflet, booklet or other publication whether printed or published in the State or outside to be forfeited to the State Government and thereupon any Police Officer may seize the same wherever found in the State. Any Magistrate may by warrant authorise any Police Officer not below the rank of a Sub-Inspector to enter upon and search for the same in any premises, where any copy of such issue or any such newspaper, news-sheet, book, leaflet, booklet or other publication may be or may be reasonably suspected to be. Every warrant issued under this section shall be executed in the manner prescribed for the execution of search warrants under the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898. (2) The declaration of the State Government under this section shall be final and shall not be questioned in any Civil or Criminal Court.
