(ii) If in any area, the 1 [Karnataka] Public Conveyances Act, 1959, is in force, the provisions of Chapter IV of this Act and the rules made thereunder, corresponding to the provisions of the 1 [Karnataka] Public Conveyances Act, 1959, and the rules made thereunder, shall not apply to such area, and save as aforesaid the provisions of this Act shall have effect in such area. ___________________ 1. .....stacks on the thoroughfare or on land attached to the thoroughfare; (d) motor vehicle means a motor vehicle as defined in the Motor Vehicles Act, 1939 (Central Act IV of 1939); (e) notification means a notification published in the official Gazette; (f) permit means the document issued by an authority competent to issue it authorising the use of the vehicle as a public vehicle; (g) prescribed means prescribed by rules made under this Act; (h) public place means a road, street, way or other place, whether a thoroughfare or not, to which the public have a right of access or over which they have a right to pass, and includes any place or stand at which passengers are picked up or set down by a public vehicle; (i) public vehicle means any vehicle used or constructed or adapted to be used for the carriage of passengers or goods for hire or reward, other than a motor vehicle; (j) Schedule means a Schedule to this Act; (k) vehicle includes any wheeled conveyance drawn, propelled or driven by any kind of power including human, animal, motor, steam or electric power and includes any barrow, sledge, plough, drag or like vehicle, but does not include a motor vehicle. .....

THE CHHATTISGARH MUNICIPALITIES ACT, 1961 THE CHHATTISGARH MUNICIPALITIES ACT, 1961 [Act No. 37 of 1961] [20th November, 1961] PREAMBLE An Act to consolidate and amend the law relating to municipalities and to make better provision for the organisation and administration of Municipalities in Chhattisgarh. Be it enacted by the Madhya Pradesh Legislature in the Twelfth year of the Republic of India as follows:-- Chapter I - PRELIMINARY Section 1 - Short Title, extent and commencement (1) This act may be called the Chhattisgarh Municipalities Act, 1961. (2) It extends to the whole of Chhattisgarh. [Inserted by M.P. Act No. 18 of 1997.] [(3) It shall apply to the smaller urban area or a transitional area, as the case may be, from the date on which they are notified as such under Section 5.] Section 2 - Repeal and Savings (1) The Central Provinces and Berar Municipalities Act, 1922 (II of 1922), the Madhya Bharat Municipalities Act, 1954 (1 of 1954), the Vindhya Pradesh Municipalities Act, 1946 and the Bhopal State Municipalities Act, 1955 (III of 1956), are hereby repealed. Control of National Highways (Land and Traffic) Act, 2002 Chapter 1

.....the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint and different dates may be appointed for different provisions of this Act. Section 2 - Definitions In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires,-- (a) "appointed day", in relation to a Tribunal, means the date on which such Tribunal is established under sub-section (1) of section 5; (b) "building" means any work of construction done in any manner by use of any material and includes a farm building for agricultural purposes, plinth, doorstep, wall, drain, advertisement board and other things fixed with such building; (c) "construct" with its grammatical variations, in relation to a building, means to construct, reconstruct, erect, re-erect, extend or alter structurally a building; (d) "cost of land" means the market value of the land as determined by the competent authority of the State Government or the Government of the Union territory appointed for such determination, as the case may be; (e) "Highway" means a National Highway declared as such under section 2 of the National Highways Act, 1956 (48 of 1956) and includes any Expressway or Express Highway vested in the Central.....

Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976 Chapter XI

.....City of Bangalore in accordance with such arrangements as the said corporation has entered into with the said Board before the commencement of this Act. Section 153 - Contribution to expenditure by other local authorities (1) If the expenditure incurred by the Government or by any local authority for any purpose authorised by rules is such as to benefit the inhabitants of the city, the corporation may make a contribution towards such expenditure. (2) The Government may direct the corporation to show cause, within a period fixed by the Government in this behalf not being less than one month after receipt of the order containing the direction, why any contribution referred to in sub-section (1) should not be made. (3) If the corporation fails to show cause within the said period to the satisfaction of the Government, the Government may direct it to make such contribution as it shall name and it shall be paid accordingly. Section 154 - Power of corporation to borrow money (1) The corporation may, in pursuance of any resolution passed at a special meeting, barrow by way of debenture or otherwise, on the security of all or any of the taxes, duties, fees and dues.....

Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976 Section 154

Title: Power of Corporation to Borrow Money

(d) to repay a loan previously raised under this Act or any other law previously in force: Provided that,- (i) no loan shall be raised without the previous sanction of the Government, and (ii) the amount of the loan, the rate of interest and the terms including the date of floating, the time and method of repayment and the like shall be subject to the approval of the Government. (2) When any sum of money has been borrowed under sub-section (1),- (a) no portion thereof shall, without the previous sanction of the Government, be applied to any purpose other than that for which it was borrowed, and (b) no portion of any sum of money borrowed under clause (a) of sub-section (1) shall be applied to the payment of salaries or allowances to any corporation officers or servants other than those exclusively employed upon the works for the construction of which the money was borrowed.
