Title: Relief to Agents and Trustees

(1) Where any person, by reason of his receiving the rent of immovable property as an agent or trustee, or of his being as an agent or trustee the person who would receive the rent if the property were let to a tenant, would under this Act be bound to discharge any obligation imposed on the owner of the property for the discharge of which money is required, he shall not be bound to discharge the obligation unless he has, or but for his own improper act or default might have had, funds in his hands belonging to the owner sufficient for the purpose. (2)The burden of proving any fact entitling an agent or trustee to relief under sub-section (1) shall lie upon him. (3) Where any agent or trustee has claimed and established his right to relief under this section, the1[Board] may, by notice in writing, require him, to apply to the discharge of such obligation as aforesaid the first monies which may come to his hands on behalf, or for the use, of the owner, and, on failure to comply with the notice, he shall be deemed to be personally liable to discharge the obligation. ________________________ 1. .....administration of cantonments the spirit of the reformed scheme of Government, recommended a complete revision and an algamation of the Cantonments Act(Act 15 of 1910) and the Cantonment Code, 1912, in order to bring into conformity with ordinary municipal law the system under which military cantonments are administered. The recommendations of the committee have now been examined by the Government of India and the conclusions arrived at are embodied in the BiH. The main features of the Rill are as follows:- (a) It is proposed to lake power to municipalize the government of those cantonments which contain a substantial civil population having no essential connection with or dependence upon the military administration. In other cantonments where these circumstances do not fully exist the administration of contanment. Affairs will be vested in the hands of the commanding officer of the cantonment, who for the purpose of the Act, will be constituted a corporation sole. The general effect will be that the Government authority will cease to be the purely executive .agency as at present. In the larger cantonments the existing cantonment committee will be replaced by a cantonment Board.....

Title: Powers, Procedure, Penalties and Appeals

Section 246 - Entry to be made in the day time Save as otherwise expressly provided in this Act, no entry authorised by or under this Act shall be made except between the hours of sunrise and sunset. .....under this Act to be the Executive Officer of a cantonment; 13 [(xiiia) "factory" means a factory as defined in clause(m) of section 2 of the Factories Act, 1948 (63 of 1948); (xiiib) "Forces" means the Army, Navy and Air Force or any part of any one or more of them;] (xiv) "Health Officer" means the senior executive medical officer in military employ on duty in a cantonment; 14 [(xv) "hospital" includes family welfare centre, child welfare centre, maternity centre and health centre;] (xvi) "hut" means any building, no material portion of which above the plinth level is constructed of masonry or of squared timber framing or of iron framing; (xvii) "infections or contagious disease" means cholera, leprosy, enteric fever, small­pox, tuberculosis, diphtheria, plague, influenza, venereal disease, and any other epidemic, endemic or infectious disease which the 15 [Central Government] may, by notification in the Official Gazette, declare to be, an infectious or contagious disease for the purposes of this Act; (xviii) "inhabitant", in relation to a cantonment, or to cal area, means any person ordinarily residing or carrying on business or owning or occupying.....

Title: Qualification for Being a Member of the Board

.....(24 of 1936), exercised and performed the powers andduties of a Cantonment Authority under this Act]; (b)is debarred from practising as a legal practitioner by order of anycompetent-authority; (c)holds any place of profit in the gift or at the disposal of the Board, or is a 6 [** *] police officer, or is the servant or employerof a member of the Board; or (d)is interested in a subsisting contract made with, or in work being done for, theBoard except as a shareholder (other than a director) in an incorporatedcompany; or 7 [[(e)]is an officer or servant, permanent or temporary, of a Board 8 [or ofany other local authority]; or] 9 [[(f)]is a member of any other to cal authority; or] 8 [(g)has, by the authority referred to in clause (f) of section 31, been found tohave been guilty of any of the corrupt practices specified in sub-section (2) ofsection 29 unless a period of five years has elapsed since the date of thefinding or the disqualification has been removed either retrospectively orprospectively by an order of the Central Government; or (h)fails to pay any arrears of any kind due by him otherwise than as an agent,receiver, trustee or an executor, to the Board.....
