Section 121 - Furlough rules His Majesty may make such rules as to the leave of absence of the Bishops of Calcutta, Madras and Bombay on furlough or medical certificate as seem to His Majesty expedient. Section 122 - Establishment of chaplains of Church of Scotland (1) Two members of the establishment of Chaplains maintained in each of the presidencies of Bengal, Madras and Bombay must always be ministers of the Church of Scotland, and shall be entitled to have, out of the revenues of India, such salary as is from time to time allotted to the military chaplains in the several presidencies. (2) The ministers so appointed chaplains must be ordained and inducted by the presbytery of Edinburgh according to the forms and solemnities used in the Church of Scotland and shall be subject to the spiritual and ecclesiastical jurisdiction in all things of the presbytery of Edinburgh, whose judgments shall be subject to dissent, protest and appeal to the Provincial Synod of Lothian and Tweed dale and to the General Assembly of the Church.....

.....FOR COMMENCING HOSTILITIES When any order is sent to India directing the actual commencement of hostilities by His Majesty's forces in India, the fact of the order having been sent shall, unless the order has in the meantime been revoked or suspended, be communicated to both Houses of Parliament within three months after the sending of the order, or, if Parliament is not sitting at the expiration of those three months, then within one month after the next meeting of Parliament. (3) Eachof the bishops of Madras and Bombay issubject to the Bishop of Calcutta as such Metropolitan, and must at thetime of his appointment to his bishopric, or at the time of his consecration asbishop, take an oath of obedience to the Bishop of Calcutta, in such manner asHis Majesty, by letters patent,may be pleased to direct. (4) His Majesty may, by letters patent, vary the limits of the diocesesof Calcutta, Madras and Bombay. Title: Consecration of Person Resident in India Appointed to Bishopric

If any person under the degree of bishop is appointed to the bishopric of Calcutta, Madras or Bombay, being at the time of his appointment resident in India, the Archbishop of Canterbury, if so required to do by His Majesty by letters patent, may issue a commission under his hand and seal, directed to the two remaining bishops, authorising and charging them to perform all requisite ceremonies for the consecration of the person so to be appointed.

Title: The Bishop of Calcutta to Be Metropolitan in India

Provided always * * *1 that the bishop of Calcutta for thetime being shall be deemed and taken to be the metropolitan bishop in India, and as such shall have, enjoy, and exercise all suchecclesiastical jurisdiction and episcopal functions, for the purposesaforesaid, as his Majesty shall by his roval letters patent under the greatseal of the said United Kingdom think necessary to direct, subjectnevertheless to the general superintendence and revision of the archbishop ofCanterbury for the time being; and that the bishops of Madras and Bombay for the time being respectively shall be subject to thebishop of Calcutta for the time being as such metropolitan and shall at the time of their respectiveappointments to such bishopricks or at the time of their respectiveconsecrations as bishop take an oath of obedience to the said bishop ofCalcutta in such manner ashis Majesty by his said royal letters patent shall be pleasedto direct. ___________________________ 1.
