EAST PUNJAB URBAN RENT RESTRICTION ACT, 1949 EAST PUNJAB URBAN RENT RESTRICTION ACT, 1949 An Act to restrict the increase of rent of certain premises situated within the limits of urban areas, and the eviction of tenants therefrom It is hereby enacted as follows:- 1. Short title, extent and commencement. - (1) This Act may be called the East Punjab Urban Rent Restriction Act, 1949. (2) It extends to all urban areas in 1[Punjab] but nothing herein contained shall be deemed to affect the regulation of house accommodation in any Cantonment area.
