Borstal School Act, 1963 Section 32

Title : Repeal and Savings

The Mysore Borstal Schools Act, 1943 (Mysore Act XLVI of 1943), as in force in the Mysore Area, the Hyderabad Borstal School Act, 1956 (Hyderabad Act XV of 1956), as in force in the 1 [Gulbarga Area], the Bombay Borstal Schools Act, 1929 (Bombay Act XVIII of 1929), as in force in the 1 [Belgaum Area], and the Madras Borstal School Act, 1926 (Madras Act V of 1926), as in force in the 1 [Mangalore and Kollegal Area], are hereby repealed: Provided that section 6 of the 1 [Karnataka] General Clauses Act 1899 (1 [Karnataka] Act III of 1899), shall be applicable in respect of such repeal and section 8 and section 24 of the said Act shall be applicable as if the said enactments are repealed and re-enacted by this Act. _______________________ 1. Title : The Chancellor

(1) The Governor of the1[State of Karnataka] shall by virtue of his office be the Chancellor of the University. (2) The Chancellor shall be the Head of the University and shall when present, preside at any convocation of the University. (3) No honorary degree shall be conferred by the University upon any person without the approval of the Chancellor. Title : The Pro-chancellor

(1) The Minister for Agriculture for the1[State of Karnataka] shall by virtue of his office be the Pro-Chancellor of the University. (2) The Pro-Chancellor shall exercise such powers and functions of the Chancellor as may be conferred on him by or under this Act or under the Statutes. (1) Where any pension fund, or provident fund has been constituted by the University for the benefit of its officers, teachers or servants, the State Government may declare that the provisions of the Provident Funds Act, 1925 (Central Act 19 of 1925) shall apply to such fund as if it were a Government Provident Fund. (2) Persons in Government services transferred to the University under section 7 shall be entitled to pension under the1[Karnataka] State Civil Services Rules or such other rules as were applicable to them immediately before the transfer and such pension shall be payable by the State Government and shall be an expenditure charged on the Consolidated Fund of the State. _______________________ 1. (1) The State Government shall, every year, make non-lapsable lumpsum grants to the University as follows:- (i) a grant not less than the net expenditure incurred in the year 1961-62 on such of the activities and institutions of the Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and other Government departments as are transferred to the University; (ii) a grant not less than the estimated net expenditure of pay and allowances of staff, contingencies, supplies and services of the University other than in respect of the activities and institutions referred to in clause (i); (iii) a grant to meet such additional items of expenditure recurring and non-recurring as the State Government may deem necessary for the proper functioning of the University.
