NOTIFICATIONS

No. INT 4459-M dt. 18.3.1960.--In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 1 of the Bombay Prevention of Begging Act, 1959 (Bom. X of 1960), the Government if Bombay hereby appoints the 1st April, 1960 to be the date on which the said Act shall come into force in the following areas :-

(a) "Greater Bombay" as defined in the Bombay General Clause Act, 1904.

(b) The Part of the Thana Taluka which is encircled by the Bessein-Thana Creek including the territorial waters appertaining thereto;

(c) The limits of Railway lands from a point immediately beyond the Thana Railway Station to the Kalyan Station inclusive on the Central Railway; and

(d) The limits of Railway lands from a point immediately beyond the Bhayander Railway Station to the Virar Railway Station inclusive on the Western Railway;

(e) The "Elephanta Caves" comprised in Survey No. 65 in village Gharapuri in Uran Mahal of the Kolaba District;

(f) The City of Ahmedabad within the meaning of the Bombay Provincipal Municipal Corporations Act, 1949.

No. BBA. 4657-N, dt. 6.2.1964.--In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section I of the Bombay Prevention of Begging Act, 1959 (Bom. X of 1960), the Government of Maharashtra hereby appoints the 15th day of February 1964, to be the date on which the said Act shall come into force in the following areas, that is to say :-

(a) the areas within the limits of the Municipal Corporation of the City of Poona;

(b) the areas within the limits of the Cantonment Boards of Poona and Kirkee.

No. BGH. 1774-N, dt. 16.6.1975.--In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 1 of the Bombay Prevention of Begging Act, 1959 (Bom. X of 1960), the Government of Maharashtra herey appoints the 1st day of April, 1974 to be the date on which the said Act shall come into force in the City of Nagpur within the meaning of the City of Nagpur Corporation Act, 1948 (C.P. and Berar II of 1950).

No. MIS 1095/CR-1, dt. 10.10.1996.--In erercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 1 of the Bombay Prevention of Begging Act, 1959, (Bom. of 1960) the Government Maharashtra hereby appoints the First day of November, 1996 to be the date on which the said Act shall come into force in the areas within the limits of Solapur District.

No. BGH 1093/5735/CR-85/CA-I, dt. 30.5.1995.--In exercise of powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 1 of the Bombay Prevention of Beging Act, 1959 (Bom. X of 1960), the Government of Maharashtra hereby appoints the 1st June 1995 to the date on which the said Act shall come into force in the areas within the limits of Ahmednagear District.

No. BBA. 4657/8199-N, dt. 2.3.1964.--In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 12 of the Bombay Prevention of Begging Act, 1959 (Bom. X of 1960), the Government of Maharashtra hereby provides and maintains for the purposes of the said Act a Receiving Centre in that portion of the building of the David Sassoon Infirm Asylum at Poona, which has been taken on lease by State Government.

No. BBA. 1065/5446-N, dt. 16.7.1965.--In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 12 of the Bombay Prevention of Begging Act, 1959 (Bom. X of 1960), the Government of Maharashtra hereby certifies the institution known as the Mahila Seva Gram, Poona, to be a Receiving Centre, for the purpose of the said Act.

No. BBA. 4676.--In erercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 12 of the Bombay Prevention of Begging Act, 1959 (Bom. X of 1960), the Government of Maharashtra hereby certifies the Unit No. 12 of the Aaret Milk Colony, Goregaon, Bomba, to be a Receving Centre for the reception and temporary detention of beggars. No. BGH, 1062/96613-N, dt. 26.8.1964.--In erercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 13 of the Bombay Prevention of Begging Act, 1959 (Bom. X of 1960), the Government of Maharashtra hereby provides and maintain a Certified Institution in the Distrillery building at Satara, for the purposes of the said Act.

No. BGH. 1064/96703-N, dt. 1.9.1964.--In erercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 12 of the Bombay Prevention of Begging Act, 1959 (Bom. X of 1960). the Government of Maharashtra hereby provides and maintaing, for the purposes of the said Act a Certified Institution known as the Kedgaon Leprosy Home situated in Kedgaon taluka of Sholapur Dist.

No. BBA. 5957/39631-N, dt. 5.4.1965.--In erercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 13 of the Bombay Prevention of Begging Act. 1959 (Bom. X of 1960). the Government of Maharashtra hereby notifies that the old "Leprosy Hospital Pui" should be designated as "Home for the Leprosy Affected Beggars, Pui" and continue as a Certifed Institution for the purpose of the said Act.

No. BBA 1077/51856/D-IX, dt. 22.2.1980.--In erercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 17 of the Bombay Prevention of Begging Act, 1959 (Bom. X of 1960), and in superssession of all previous notifications issued in this behalf, the Government of Maharashtra hereby,

(1) appoints -

(a) Shri [........]. Director of Social Welfare, Maharashtra State, Pune to be the Chief Inspector of Certified Institutions; and

(b) Shri [........] Deputy Director of Social Welfare (Training). Pune to be the Additional Chief Inspector of Certified Institution to assist the Chief Inspector of Certified Institution.

for carrying out the purposes of the said Act and

(2) directs that the said Additional Chief Inspector of Certified Institutions shall exercise all the powers and perform all the duties of the Chief Inspector of Certified Institutions.

No. BBA. 6165/47521-N. dt. 15.5.1967.--In pursuance of the provisions of rule 19 of the Maharashtra Prevention of Begging Rules, 1964, the Government of Maharashtra hereby appoints the following persons to be the members of the Visiting Committee for the Receiving Centre of for Beggars, Poona.

Ex-offico members-

(1) The District Magistrate, Poon Chairman

(2) The Judicial Magistrate, First Class under the Bombay Prevention of Begging Act, Poona.

(3) The Chief Inspector of Certified Institutions Poona

(4) The Divisional Social Welfare Officer, Poona

(5) The Superintendent, Receiving Centre for Secretary Beggars Poon.

2. The non-offical members shall hold office for a period of two years from the date of their appointment.
