This Act may be called the Bombay Abolition of Whipping Act, 1957.
NOTES
Parliament has enacted the Abolition of Whipping Act, 1955 (XLIV of 1955), for the purpose of abolishing whipping as a judicial punishment. It is expedient to abolish the punishment of whipping in the State of Bombay also. See Statement of Objects and Reasons.
