(1) In this Act

{Substituted, by the A.O. 1950, for clause (a)} [(a) the expression "Commonwealth citizen" has the same meaning as in section 1 of the British Nationality Act, 1948 (11 & 12 Geo.6, ch.56.), but shall include any association incorporated in any part of the Commonwealth, including India];

(b) the expression "restrictive provision" means any provision in the articles of association of a company which, in the opinion of the Central Government, is designed to restrict or limit or has the effect of restricting or limiting the share or shares or interest which may be held, or the rights, powers or authority which may be conferred upon or exercised by or on behalf of persons other than {Substituted, by the A.O. 1950, for "British subjects".} [Commonwealth citizens] in the company, or in respect of the control, management or direction of the affairs thereof.

(2) All words and expressions used in this Act and defined in the {Now see the Companies Act, 1956 (1 of 1956).} Indian Companies Act, 1913 (7 of 1913), shall be deemed to have the meanings respectively attributed to them by that Act.
