THE HOWRAH MUNICIPAL CORPORATION (AMENDMENT) ACT, 2014

An Act to amend the Howrah Municipal Corporation Act, 1980.
WHEREAS it is expedient to amend the Howrah Municipal Corporation Act, 1980, for the purposes and in the manner hereinafter appearing;
It is hereby enacted in the Sixty-fifth Year of the Republic of India, by the Legislature of West Bengal, as follows:-
Short title and Commencement:-
1. (1) This Act may be called the Howrah Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Act, 2014.
(2) It shall be deemed to have come into force on and from 17th January, 2014.
Amendment of section 6 of the West Bengal Act LVIII of 1980:-
2. In sub-section (1) of section 6 of the Howrah Municipal Corporation Act, 1980 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), for the words not exceeding five, the words not exceeding ten shall be substituted.
Amendment of section 11:-
3. In sub-section (1) of section 11 of the Principal Act,-
(i) for the words five boroughs, the words at least seven boroughs shall be substituted; and
(ii) for the words ten contiguous wards, the words at least seven contiguous wards shall be substituted.
Repeal and saving:-
4. (1) The Howrah Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2014, is hereby repealed.
(2) Notwithstanding such repeal, anything done or any action taken under the principal Act as amended by the said Ordinance shall be deemed to have been validly done or taken under the principal Act as amended by this Act. |
