An Act further to amend the Indian Partnership Act, 1932, in its application to the Union territory of Pondicherry.
Be it enacted by the Legislative Assembly of Pondicherry in the Twentieth Year of the Republic of India as follows
:-

Short title, extent and commencement.

1. (1)
This Act may be called the Indian Partnership (Pondicherry Amendment) Act, 1969.

(2)
It extends to the whole of the Union territory of Pondicherry.

1(3)
It shall come into force on such date as the Lieutenant
-Governor, Pondicherry, may, by notification in the Official Gazelle, appoint.

Amendment of Section 58.

In the Indian Partnership Act,
1932 (Central Act
9 of 1932) (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), for sub-section
(3) of section
58, the following sub-sections shall be substituted, namely
:-

"(3)
The Registrar shall refuse to register,-
(a) a firm under sub-section (I), or
(b) an alteration of the firm name,
if the proposed firm name or the alteration of the firm name is identical with the name by which any other existing firm has been registered or in the opinion of the Registrar so nearly resembles such other name as to be likely to deceive or mislead the public or the members of either firm.
1. The Act came into force from 1st January 1970, vide Extraordinary Gazette No. 115 dated 10th December 1969
(4) Any person who is aggrieved by an odder of Registrar under sub-section
(3) may file an appeal be or authority, in such manner, within such person or authority, in such manner, within such time and on payment of such fees as may be prescribed.

The appeal
shall be heard and decided in such manner as may ]be prescribed.".

Substitution of new Schedule for Schedule I.

For Schedule I to the principal
Act, the following, Schedule shall be substituted, namely
:-
