ORISSA ACT 16 OF 2002

[Received the assent of the Governor on the 29^th November 2002, first published in an extraordinary issue of the Orissa Gazette, dated the 13^th December 2002 (No. 2228)]

AN ACT TO AMEND THE ORISSA ANCIENT MONUMENTS PRESERVATION ACT, 1956.

it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Orissa in the Fifty-third Year of the Republic of India as follows:-

. This Act may be called the Orissa Ancient Monuments Preservation (Amendment) Act, 2002.

. In section 16 of the Orissa Ancient Monuments Preservation Act, 1956 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act), for the words "fine which may extend to five thousand rupees, or with imprisonment which may extend to three months or with both", the words "imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, or with fine which may extend to fifty thousand rupees, or with both" shall be substituted.

. In section 17 of the principal Act, in sub-section (4), for the words "five hundred rupees", the words "ten thousand rupees" shall be substituted.
