| THE MEGHALAYA LEGISLATORS' SALARIES & ALLOWANCES AMENDMENT ACT, 1995 An Act further to amend the laws relating to the salaries and allowances of Ministers, Speaker, Parliamentary Secretaries, the Leader of the Opposition and Members of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Meghalaya in the Forty-sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows - 1. (1) This Act may be called the Meghalaya Legislators' Salaries and Allowances Amendment Act, 1995. Short title and commencement (2) It shall come into force at once. Amendment of Section 3 of Act 2 of 1972. 2. In section 2 of the Legislative Assembly of Meghalaya (Speakers and the Deputy Speaker Salaries and Allowances) Act, 1972 (Act 2 of 1972) , for the words "rupees four thousand four hundred" and "rupees four thousand" the words "rupees nine thousand six hundred" and rupees eight thousand seven hundred and fifty" shall respectively be substituted. Amendment of section 2 of Act 4 of 1972. 3. In section 2 of the Meghalaya (Ministers' Salaries and Allowances) Act, 1972 (Act 4 of 1972) - (i) in clause (a), for the words "rupees four thousand eight hundred", the words "rupees ten thousand shall be substituted; (ii) in clause (b), for the words 'rupees four thousand four hundred", the words rupees nine thousand six hundred" shall be substituted; (iii) in clause (c), for the words "rupees four thousand two hundred", the words "rupees nine thousand two hundred and fifty shall be substituted; (iv) in clause (d), for the words "rupees four thousand", the words "rupees eight thousand seven hundred and fifty" shall be substituted; and (v) in clause (e), for the words "rupees three thousand five hundred", the words "rupees eight thousand four hundred" shall be substituted. Amendment of section 3, 4 and 6A of Act 8 of 1972. 4. In the Legislative Assembly of Meghalaya (Members Salaries and Allowance) Act, 1972 (Act 8 of 1972) - (a) in section 3, for the words "rupees two thousand", the words "rupees two thousand five hundred" shall be substituted; (b) in section 4 - (i) in clause (a), for the words "rupees six hundred", the words "rupees one thousand two hundred" shall be substituted; (ii) in clause (e), for the words "rupees one hundred", the words "rupees three hundred" shall be substituted and the word "and" occurring at the end shall be omitted; (iii) after clause (e) the following new clause shall be inserted, namely, "(ee) a constituency allowance of rupees one thousand four hundred per mensem; and" (iv) in clause (f), for the words "rupees seven hundred and fifty" the words "rupees one thousand five hundred" shall be substituted; (c) in sub-section (2) of section 6A, for the words "three hundred rupees", the words "rupees five hundred" shall be substituted. Amendment of section 3 of Act 6 of 1983. 5. In Section 3 of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly (Leaders of opposition) (Salary and Allowances) Act, 1983 (Act 6 of 1983), for the words "rupees four thousand two hundred", the words "rupees nine thousand two hundred and fifty" shall be substituted. Amendment of section 3 of Act 9 of 1991. 6. In Section 3 of the Meghalaya Parliamentary Secretary's Salary and Allowances Act, 1991 (Act 9 of 1991), for the words "rupees four thousand", the words "rupees eight thousand four hundred" shall be substituted. |
